Houston Alexander is still under contract to UFC; Dana gave him permission to do that other fight out of the UFC. His next UFC fight is supposed to be in December. And FWIW, I like Houston... but hey, that's because I'm an NU fan.

Kimbo should just try boxing.

With his power,

Kimbo's power is a myth. Sure he looks strong as hell knocking out nobodies on youtube, but against MMA fighters, not so much. He landed a couple big shot's in the 2 fights he lost and they didn't even seem to affect his opponent.

Nelson might have been hurt in that second round. He took Kimbo down at the perfect time. Kimbo never landed anything on Seth. The only guy that survived big shots from Kimbo for a good while in my recollection was the guy whose ear swole up like that. I think Kimbo hits pretty damn hard. I'll give him that.

Same reason why the rant still talks LSU football.

Kimbo slipped up and said he was fighting on UFC 107 on the late show. The only rumored fighter to not have an opponent is Houston Alexander. Ding Ding Ding

Slice revealed in a media call earlier this week that he was preparing for a December contest, and while a brief exchange led many to believe that bout would take place at UFC 107, MMAjunkie.com has learned that to be unlikely.

i havent seen this posted, here is Joe Rogan's take on the new breed of mma fans

quote:

The weigh ins are open to the public, and always packed with rabid mixed martial arts fans, as well as an abundance of affliction t shirts and tribal tattoos. Women will scream and cheer. Men will puff out their chests and flex when their favorite fighter takes the scale. Excitement will fill the air, building with each subsequent weigh in until it climaxes with the main event stare down.

Some folks will want to get their posters signed by their favorite fighters, but this the age of the internet, and when it comes to fan requests the digital photograph has far surpassed the autograph. These days everyone’s phone has a camera, and everyone wants a picture of them holding their fist up standing next to Randy Couture on their facebook page. That is easily one of the weirdest and goofiest things about MMA fans; the fist-up pose with the fighter. I can’t think of another sport that has a pose that the fans take when they get pictures with the athletes where they mimic the activity they enjoy watching. It’s not just a few guys striking this dopey pose, either. It’s the majority. I can completely understand if you’re a fighter yourself, and you want an image of camaraderie with one of your sporting idols, but if you’re an overweight short order cook who’s never even taken a tae bo class, do the world a favor and keep your fricking fist un-balled when you’re standing next to Anderson Silva.

Another unintentionally hilarious aspect of the MMA culture is the abundance of retarded macho “fight wear” T-shirts. The enormous financial success of enterprising clothing companies like “Tapout” have given birth to a rise of ham-handed imitators where each one tries to out retard the next. Images of chained up pitbulls and skulls are the norm with shiny foil letters to make sure you can clearly read the “Break my dick off in your arse – fight wear” label. At the last UFC in New Jersey I actually saw a guy in the audience with a shirt that said, “Some guys are strikers, some guys are grapplers… I’M BOTH!”
Good lord. Someone please find that poor frick and give him a hug.

The doucebaggery isn’t limited to T-shirts, either. I had one guy email me that actually wanted to sell me an pendant that was an MMA glove smothered in diamonds. The name of his company? “Hard as diamond – for those who are.”
No bullshite.
Could you even imagine the near fatal levels of meathead you would have to be infected with to walk out of your house with a diamond encrusted fighting glove around your neck? On paper it doesn’t even seem possible.
You would think that if you were that retarded there’s no way you would be able to scrape together the kind of money you would need to purchase such an expensive monstrosity. The only way I could see it happen is if maybe the buyer in question won the lottery, or possibly won a huge settlement in some brain damage inducing accident at the local toilet factory or something. Talk about your small target markets.

I emailed the enterprising young jeweler back to say that I wasn’t really interested in the glove, but I wanted to know if he could possibly make me a gold pendant of a dragon fricking a pit bull in the arse – covered in diamonds. I also wanted to know if the dragon’s tail could possibly be constructed in a manner that would allow for it to be detached and double as a cock ring.
I eagerly await his response.

MMA fans are the worst. It's hard to watch a fight at Punchers. The crowd is very stereotypical.

This why I watch all my fights at home... Unless someone is paying me:)

one thing about weigh ins though, they are a ton of fun.

2 or 3 thousand people too see a weigh in, all appreciative of anything you can give them.

And I always see something that touches me. The guy who is so excited to be there and wants to tell you all about his training and how he will be in the UFC one day while you sign his program, but he is 5'6" and 130 pounds fully grown.

Or the kid in the wheelchair pushed by his dad who is "the biggest UFC fan" and pops brought him for his bday.

Makes me think how blessed I am to have the opportunity, when so many people, who may even "deserve" something good in their lives, were dealt a hand at birth impossible to overcome.

I really apply it to... If I feel burned out while training for a fight, I remind myself of all the people I have met who were in wheelchairs, had downs, or some other affliction, or who were simply not blessed athletically and I think about what they would do were they given my opportunity.

Biggest fan I've ever met was like an 17 year old guy in a wheelchair with his older brother...

Day after the show I got a call from the UFC office to come downstairs to pick up something... So I get off the elevators at the MGM grand and there they are... The kid and his brother.

They yelled as I walked by and had a program they wanted signed. He flipped through looking for my page and I could see he already had a few fighters sign on their pictures. I picked up my stuff from the office and headed back to the room.

I had decided to stay an extra day in Vegas to enjoy the pool on memorial day, so a couple hours later I head to pool, and see the kid out there still.

I'm at the pool all day with friends, and about 6 pm I need a nap, so i head back to the room... Kid is still there.

Someone must have tipped him off to thecfact that all UFC personnel, fighters, office people and even the broadcast team are given an itinerary to catch their flights, and they meet their drivers in the lobby starting at about 5 am going till bout 10 pm.

He was gonna wait there all
morning, day and evening until he got his fill.

I went got the paper that shows you who has to be in that lobby and at what time, and also gave him one of the gloves I fought nover in, and a couple of UFC hats. At least with that itinerary paper he can see when to expect the guys coming down those elevators

Funny article by Rogan.

And, KBeezy. Good to hear you do that for that kid. More athletes need to do this kind of stuff more often

With his power, and as shitty as the heavyweight division is, he'd be fighting Klitscho in about 2-3 years.
