The mentally slow among us are trying to argue that military recruitment is innately political, but put that aside a second, and focus on partisan political or sociopolitical views. I think it’s pretty fair to say that conservatives, if given a choice, would prefer a world in which partisan politics aren’t interjected into sports overall. Given the overwhelming dominance of leftist sentiment in sports, it’s not particularly surprising conservatives celebrate (even disproportionately) the 2% of political discourse in sports that happens to be conservative.
