He doesn't see that he's actually undercut his own talent. The tacit comment he's making is that he can only succeed with good coaching.

Plenty of QBs have been all-pros and HOFers with bad coaching. But he can't even be average? He's saying he's a system QB and conditions need to be perfect for him to succeed.

He’s saying he can’t read a defense. “Gotta just let me ball coach!”

Essentially sounds like he thinks he’s given too much information and isn’t able to “play free” worrying about stuff like that.

he said the morning that his #1 goal against KC is to not think

Sounds like a very unpoetic way of saying he doesn’t think the system is playing to his strengths.

If I take what he's saying charitably it sounds like he's trying to say hes overthinking things instead of just letting his instincts take over and letting it rip once he hits the field. He even says later in the interview "It's probably more a me thing than coach thing."

It's not a great interview but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as the tweet by the reporter implied.

I don’t think Fields is good, and doubt he lasts as a starter past this year. But supposedly the Bears’ play designs are disgusting. A lot of plays where receivers have extremely poor spacing or run the exact same routes or other non sense. Lack of creative play calling and field stretching. Not using their rushing QB as a rusher - only 2 designed QB runs this year total
