Yay! Another GOAT thread!! Woooo!!!!

I posted this in a thread I just noticed was anchored which has pissed me off after looking it up. So...

At 19 years old, Jordan was averaging 13 points a game 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in college. He was not all conference, all American, or anything else.

At 19 years, Lebron was averaging 21 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6 assists in the NBA. And was on the Olympic team.

At 33 years old (LeGOAT's current age):

Jordan: 29.6, 6, 4 .486% field goal percentage

LeGOAT: 27.5, 9, 9 .542% field goal percentage

(points, rebounds, assists)

Also notable: Jordan had one more good year left at 33 where he averaged 28 a game on .465 shooting.

LeGOAT has only averaged below .500 shooting once in the past 9 years. Jordan never averaged .500 shooting after his first title in 1991.

I like Jordan better because he was a tough shot maker. He could make shots that other players couldn't on a regular basis because he had incredible skill.

LeBron is a simple shot maker. He's so big and strong he can bully his way to the basket and get 2 points.

They are both effective, but I like the way Jordan played more. He was more enjoyable to watch. When Jordan got hot, he was just unbelievable.

I made this argument before. Aesthetics is the main reason people think Jordan was better

Ever notice how many college games vs nba that have teams scoring 100? I’ll let you figure out why it’s important here.

I mean, the stats also are very close. So I'm not just choosing Jordan because of aesthetics.

Just to play devil's advocate Jordan's career 3pt % is .327 and Lebron's is .344.

There's this narrative that Lebron only drives, but that isn't accurate anymore. LeBron has become a good shooter over the last half of his career. Teams have to respect his Jumper now, that's why he's playing at such an elite level.

I don't think anyone would ever argue Jordan was a great 3P shooter though?

I would be curious what the average distance per shot for both was, if a stat like that was ever able to be found. Wouldn't sway anything one way or another, would just be fascinating to look at.

It's because he's better at basketball than Jordan.

Also, Jordan rarely made you want to throw your remote because of poor shot selection.

LeBron takes and has taken shots that leaves you scratching your head as to what the frick he was thinking.

Yes and like I said never shot over 50% again after 1991, covering 10 seasons.

LeGoat shoots over 50% almost practically every year from age 19 to 33. And counting.

I like when Jordan got older and could no longer soar, he developed that turn around fade away that nobody could stop or block.

You can only drive to the basket for so long. Jordan became a great shooter, he wasn't one early on just like Magic.

Some players are just going to have longer careers and be more productive older because of a particular skill - like Kareem and his sky hook, he could shoot that forever and nobody could stop it.

I'd like to see the LeBron in 3 years (the time Jordan wasted in college) and see if he's still bulldozing to the basket.
