Another poster mentioned that there will be hate signs for JoePa this Saturday.
I'm actually doubting this. In fact, I think the fan reaction may be the exact opposite.

Here's my issue: The 23-page report I read included a mother calling Sandusky and complaining that her child had taken a shower with him. Sandusky admitted that this happened and that it was probably inappropriate.
That was in the late 90s.
How in the frick does this continue to go on for years afterwards with not a single person caring to do anything about it?
Is it even slightly reasonable to believe that Paterno had no idea any of this was happening?
If it was any other coach, any other business, any other situation, nobody would be wasting time to even debate this. They would fire him first and ask questions later. What Joe Paterno has done on a football field should not give him special treatment.

NO! because they took certain "steps" to keep him away from more children...obviously not that they were enforced

In the very least, Joe Pa's kin and McQueary should be out on their asses and anyone that was a part of the staff at the time these things happened. Harsh, but you have to clean house and give yourself a fresh start to move forward.
JoePa should donate his entire salary from 1998 onward to the victims. We'll leave him an allowance for a new pair of cokebottle tinted glasses every 2 years.

I believe there will be a mixed reaction and I think it will be very emotional for all of us.

he didn't even stop anything, he just grabbed his ginger sneakers and ran away to call daddy. Even if it was his own dad in the shower, he didnt have the nerve to even say stop?
I agree with you on this. I was just sharing the latest info I heard on the family relationship that seems to go way back. To me that adds more intrigue to this already ridiculous story.

especially when your entire legacy is based off of this "we do it the right way with honor blah blah blah" mantra and now its "well, he did the bare minimum that the law requires so leave him alone."

Ummm, in the Grand Jury report, Paterno admitted to knowing what happened. McQueary himself told Paterno.

What about the DA that refused to prosecute and has been missing since 2006. shite just gets stranger and stranger.

i really don't understand the argument with this situation...everyone has admitted that they knew what was going on!!!!!
Posted on 11/9/11 at 9:48 am to GEAUXT
it's simple. whoever didn't call the fricking police should be fired. and, to my knowledge, nobody did initially.
Posted on 11/9/11 at 9:48 am to GEAUXT
My thing is why was this sick frick even allowed on campus after 2002. They didn't even try to cut ties with him. On big nothing to see here move along.

Paterno's Statement
Good to see that his ego hasn't taken a hit.

"That's why I have decided to announce my retirement effective at the end of this season. At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.

If Joe truly had a boss as it has been claimed by the likes of LE and cokes and other at PS, they would at minimum place him and McQueary on admin leave pending the internal investigation in light of the seriousness of hte charges. AT THE LEAST!
What is reasonable and would happen anywhwere else would be immediate firing.

Ah, I see. Paterno is agreeing to leave thinking everyone will leave him alone now.
I still think he's gone before Saturday.

No, infact, if anything, it gives you reason to suspect that he incouraged letting it go.
