Yeah and when nothing happened or came of it he should have done more. That's is a pathetic excuse.

I grew up in Maryland, which pretty much meant watching every team lose to Penn State. I hated those teams and their black shoes. Never rooted for JoePa, but he was college football to me as a kid.

RIP.

Message Posted by Drew Orleans So are you taking up for a guy who covered up a story that involved little boys getting fricked by a fricked up old man? Because that's what your post leads me to believe.

Taking up for that action no. I do believe in 85 years of life, Joe paterno did a lot of good and probably other bad things we don't know about.

He was a human, and had failings but I don't think he was evil or that somehow the world is better off with him dead.

And stopped there....knowing that sandusky was involved with children and nothing came of his reports.

Honestly, it is somewhat amazing to me how everyone "knows" Paterno didn't do more because he wanted to win more football games. Why did he report it at all? Along with many people, I think he did not do enough and deserved to lose his job. I also think that it is pretty difficult to know his motives (or others motives who had knowledge of Sandusky's acts). It would be great if everyone took all of the appropriate actions when they saw evidence of wrong doing, but that doesn't happen in a lot of cases. It would also be great if everyone held themselves to the same standard they seem to hold other people, but unfortunately that doesnt happen either.

And I also want to simply point out the irony of you having Kobe Bryant as an avatar while making the quoted statement. Paterno never paid a settlement for sexually assaulting someone. While you may "know" Kobe Bryant is completely innocent and "know" that Paterno participated in a coverup while having extensive knowledge of Sandusky's action, I think there are a lot of unanswered questions in both cases.

it was not asking follow up questions after the fact, by allowing Sandusky continued access to the facilities after questions were raised

if someone told me they witnessed an adult molesting a child, and I passed that along and then saw that same adult around kids,, I would ask questions,
I would try to find out why that person was still around kids.
AND if I were someone important I would make inquiries to the highest authority demanding to know exactly what the frick was going on

When I was in LSU band at the capital one bowl, we tiger baited Joe pa as he ran literally 5ish feet away from me. And 2 years later he's gone. Crazy, RIP.

If you fail to fully report that situation and make sure that sandusky went to jail then that was the ultimate fail. You people and your support amaze me.

so, now that you admit you're wrong on the cover up, what did Joe acutally know as fact, and when did he know it? I'm not asking about unwitnessed allegations, but what did Joe know as fact? He is not the judge and jury. As it turns out, some of Fine's accusers, at least two, have admitted to lying. Joe put the matter in the hands of those best suited to handle the investigation.

RIP Joe
You made a mistake that will always be an asterix and should be

If the smug sanctimonious douchebags on this site can accomplish 1 tenth of one percent of the good you did then this world would be a much better place

It doesn't take much of a man to do the right thing and protect children.
