Was he a big time free agent last year?
Yes
Yes or no question did it help them get to the playoffs for the first time in a decade?

Lebron has this repuation on making trash teams better.
He joined wade adding bosh, went back to cleveland adding Love. Went to the lake show and added NOBODY. Added 2 more wins

Basketball reasons would be the primary reason for a secondary star to elect to join him in that dumpster fire of an organization.

Basketball should be reason #1.
But you can't ignore the additional money that comes with being a star in LA. That's a strong #2 that most teams don't have.
ETA: And they are a dumpster fire. But they got rid of Walton, got rid of Magic, and the organization has been hit with a spotlight. Surely that's a step in the right direction.

Is it as dumb as someone from South Louisiana pretending to be a Laker fan?

Damn, an even dumber response. Holy shite

Which is why the Lakers are not the destination they once were, despite their geography and history. Adding LeBron actually exacerbated their problems in that department.

Yeah you can. Pretty easily.
See: current NBA stars

Why? Maybe it should be but it definitely isn't 100% of the time. In fact because it is a dumpster fire right now, leads to other reasons for wanting to join. Not saying Butler wouldn't follow your logic but I don't think every secondary star would.

Who, like I said, did not join LA for primarily basketball reasons. That's going to be the biggest factor going forward for them, and LeBron undermines that.

We heard the same about Kawhi last year. Hell, every year, basically, LA gets mentioned in rumors because they're LA.

You don't put any stock in the AD rumor, even considering the attempted trade between the two teams?

What I'm saying is your argument hinges on LeBron being the most coveted FA at the time, and then extrapolating upon that to say that LA landing him shows they can pull in any coveted FA they want.
I'm saying LeBron wasn't your typical FA situation. Reasons ancillary to basketball fueled his decision to play for LA. However, basketball reasons will take priority for other FA's, which LeBron's presence actually undermines.

I put about as much stock in it as I put in every Lakers rumor that we hear ad nauseum every year with every big name FA.
