Jim Simpson Probably most under 45, or even 40 weren't familiar with him. He was very thorough and smooth sort of in the Pat Summerall mold where he let the game takeover. It wasn't about him . He was maybe NBC's 2 or 3 guy. Did NFL for them, the Orange Bowl and NCAA tournament games when they had the package.

Sat next to him during the 1985 Sports Fest at Southern as he reported live on air for the boxing. Always liked him.

Simpson was great. One of the old-timers like enberg . They just don't make them like that anymore. ESPN dreams of having someone as good as Simpson today. R.i.p.
