If he retired today he would be a borderline top 50 player all time. Maybe.
How many MVP winners are outside of your top 50?

There will be no better or more applicable post in this thread. That gif is all that's needed

Like, none of these are even close. Good lord.

Dude..I’m a huge Rockets fan and Harden lover....buuuuttt come on

Westbrook isn't top 50 all time. Neither is D Rose. That's just a couple recently.
I'm sure we could look back to the earlier years of the NBA and find a few.
I'm not saying Harden can't be a top 50 player or that he isn't right now but it's too early in his career to put him top 25 or even top 40. Hence the "borderline top 50" statement.

Yes there is doubt, he has yet to rise to the occasion in the playoffs where the greats separate themselves from the good, once he does that and leads his team to a damn championship then you might have a foundation to make that argument albeit a slight one

Is James Harden better than Karl Malone? Charles Barkley? Stockton? Nash?

no dwayne wade.....daaaamn
My apologies. I wanted him for the warriors. I saw him at Marquette and I knew he was the pinnacle of hoops excellence.
However I was just scrolling down the NBA all defense by year and picking out the guards and I did see wade but by then I thought I had gone as far as hardens career. Making sure he didn't make 2nd team.
Didn't mean to snub.
Warriors took m pietrus in mid round. Someone took Darko milicic with the 2nd overall.
Maybe worst ever. Riley probably thanked Jesus and Mary, right then.

Oh wow he’s very easily better than Nash. Barkley and Stockton. Yes better than them too. I would probably have mail man over him for now.

Yes, because none of those are true.

Just trying to get people to admit that he is at a minimum the best player of all-time without a ring since some people can’t get over the lack of a ring.
Then you have to start asking is he better than the guys with just 1 ring? Garnett? Dirk? Big O?

I feel like harden would be looked at totally different on this board if it weren’t for Boom

his style of play rubs a lot of people the wrong way irrespective of any Boom shitposting

Is James Harden better than Karl Malone?
Literally asking me to compare two fundamentally different players from fundamentally different eras of basketball, I'd probably argue no because Malone's legacy's sealed and he was such a dominant PF and got farther in the playoffs as a team's alpha than Harden (3rd wheel of 12 Thunder), could be liable to change with new evidence from Harden
quote:
Charles Barkley?
At this point no, Barkley elevated his game in the playoffs and led teams to massive triumphs (without a ring), his greatest examples: game 7 1993 Western Conference Finals, game 6 1993 Western Conference Semifinals game-winning shot, 1994 Western Conference First Round 56 points
quote:
Stockton?
Two different players in terms of build and offensive approach from a scoring perspective, Harden's become more versatile defensively, Stockton was more consistent both ways against speedy guards through the years, moreover Stockton elevated his game in the playoffs to the benefit of his team like when he drained the game-winner over Barkley in 97 to win the Western Conference Finals, unsure, you can argue either way
quote:
Nash?
Same analysis as for Stockton comparison just IDK if Nash was a good defender ever so if that's the case I'd probably consider Harden better

Westbrook & Harden are both top 50 all time. But this thread is silly.
Posted on 4/8/19 at 4:41 pm to Mr. Hangover
Harden is the thinking mans mvp. If anything I make more people appreciate him I shudder to think how he would be viewed if the lower iq posters were allowed to run amok. Little Johnny who come to the msb and wants to learn about basketball would have it all wrong.

Harden is not better than Barkley.....

Shame Steve isn't 10-15 years younger. If he'd play today, he'd probably be an even better version of Steph Curry.
