physically....maybe

though Luck did have a freakish combine. Winston's measureables may be a tick better.

Except being white. As Lester pointed out earlier in the thread historically white QBs are WAY better and for the most part black QBs have not lived up to the hype. Right or wrong that shite matters to NFL GMs.

He is a decent NFL qb. But if he were on the Colts??? They would be nowhere near as good as they are. He is selfish and does NOT make players around him better. FACT.

I think it's a silly argument to bring up race. There haven't been that many hyped black qbs to begin with and I doubt the bust % is all that different. Going back 20 years you have:

McNair: Good
McNabb: Good
Akili: Bust
Culpepper: Good
Vick: ?
Leftwich: Bust
Young: Bust
Jamarcus: Bust
Cam: ?
RG3: ?

I don't see that as some horrible list that would make you think about skin color when drafting a QB.

Cam won the BCS with scrubs.

They did have an all senior OL, Michael Dyer at RB, and some fast little frick that I can't remember at RB and a decent WR core. The front seven against the rush was salty. However, they were horrid against the pass.

you do realize teams knew he was going to play football in college so they didnt want to waste a high draft pick on him right?

Not necessarily. If you're a good enough baseball prospect then pro teams will call your bluff and dare you to turn down the kind of money they're willing to throw at a kid. Jameis loves baseball and he is good at it, but if you can locate a 100 mph fastball, or even consistently throw it that hard period, you're taken within the top 3 picks.

When someone with his athleticism doesn't go in the first round it speaks to his ability as a baseball player. I played with a guy that went late first round and got a 1.2 million dollar signing bonus. Jameis Winston would be in AA all right now instead of tallahassee if that were the case with him.

As far as being as good of a prospect as luck, that is just absurd

Not that all black QB's are bad, but they always just seem to lack something to get over that hump.

in the last 30 years, how many black QBs have started in a Super Bowl?

I want to say 2, Doug Williams and McNair. And Doug Williams wasn't even very good.

could just be coincidence, but who knows. Some come from inner cities, where the coaching lacks. A lot of times they rely heavily on their physical skills and fail to develop the other side of the game. Overall just lack a "feel" for the game that say a Drew Brees or Peyton Manning have, for instance.

A great one year wonder team. And they would NOt have won a title without CAM. But he is still a work In progress in the NFL.

They were REAL good QB'S.

And Doug Williams had a magical game against The Broncs in the SB. Plus He also led the 3 year-old
Bucs franchise to the NFC title game.

Jameis is more comparable to Luck from a physical perspective. Cam can run over and through opponents and make all the throws. Just because Jameis is Black doesn't mean he's comparable to another Black guy. I'm just saying...

You made that jump, not me. I was simply saying Cam has been better than Luck so if we're going to compare the next great one (Winston) it should be to the best of the current generation.

Amazing how they went from the worst team in the league to a team that competes in nearly every game and will be fighting for a playoff berth by adding a "decent QB" who makes no one around him better.
