When you’re a back, you get in the NFL as soon as possible. Get to your second contract quicker.

Really hate to say it but...don't take RBs first round.

Unless you seriously have the luxury to do so like the Chiefs taking CEH, and even that was the 32nd pick. That certainly wasn't the case with the Jags.

That’s a potential career-ending injury, depending on severity…

That’s sad. I was hoping to see what kind of back he would be in the NFL this season. The Jags still win 4 games at most.

Thanks for criticizing my argument without actually providing a counter.

Jacksonville had an UDFA rush for over 1,000 yards last season in 14 games on one of the worst offenses in the league that trailed in games more than they lead. Every analyst graded that pick as below average.

So tell me... what logical reason do you think justifies them taking Etienne in the 1st round?

I like Etienne, but felt Jags would've been better getting a WR. They already had a talented player in James Robinson and didn't need to get a RB that high in the draft.

I think it was clearly a play to get Lawrence as comfortable in the NFL as possible as quickly as possible. Having your safety valve from your entire college career in the huddle on on every play has to help a bit. Plus he's a really good player.

Sucks for him.

I’m not saying it was a good pick. I’m just saying you are asinine for thinking that the sole reason why they drafted him where they did is because they saw the Bengals drafted Chase and the Dolphins drafted Waddle (picks that had been rumored for months) because of their connection with their QBs and decided to that they just had to have Etienne just because he played with Lawrence in college.

You do realize how outlandish that logic is right?

I mean sure it sounds funny, but I literally can't think of any other reason. Look at all the needs the Jags have and honestly tell me it's reasonable that they had Etienne as the BPA when they took him. We are talking about the same coach that gave his former QB a chance to play TE.

I seriously doubt that Urban gave a shite about what the Bengals and Dolphins were doing fam. Like someone else mentioned, teams will pick up guys their franchise QBs are comfortable with all the time, this isn’t some new trend. Same as a guy who becomes a first time head coach will sign free agents from his last stop or two to his new team. Familiarity .

Was a pathetic waste of a first round pick.

I don't think I changed my argument. What I said can be funny and true at the same time.

It's fine if people want to believe it was coincidence or not.

You said they took Etienne because they were copying what other teams did

I think Jags definitely took Etienne because he went to Clemson with TL, they didn’t give a shite what the other teams did
