this is basically to build excitement. nothing more. he wont contribute in any meaningful way on the field.

I think being a qb gives you more than info to be prepared to play TE

Learning the playbook and learning the position are two different things. He might have some insight on how he would want a WR or TE to run his route, but what good does that do when you have to chip on Dee Ford and then try not to get your head blown off by a safety?

You are making this seem like brain surgery. Basketball players quickly pick it up

All of like 2 basketball have picked it up quickly in a meaningful way and both are in a different stratosphere athletically and in a different decade of their life when they are attempting to learn

And of those two outliers still only averaged 27.5 catches, 372.5 yards, and 3.5 TDs their rookie seasons between them

We’ve never seen a TE come in day 1 and be able to really produce right away no matter how long they’ve done it or how athletic they are , so I think you’re way oversimplifying how easy it would be for Tebow.

Matt Jones went straight from qb to wr and he was on meth

Again, much harder to play TE than WR. Which is why we have a thousand good WRs in the league and like 4 good TEs

LOL. I'm more inclined to believe Jacksonville knew exactly what kind of media circus was gonna become of this.

Helps Urban to have someone he trusts in the locker room as well.

What does he trust Tebow to do exactly?

Lead the team in prayer? You don't have to be on the offseason roster to do that.

He is better physically at 33 than someone who would be 33 with 10+ seasons as an nfl TE....

I think he physically still has enough to be a TE in the nfl

Are we going to pretend like this is not an insanely late age to START to learn how to block? Or run routes?

And he's going to step in and do this at the highest level?

Urban's heart isn't the only thing not working well and Baalke's off to a flying start to not say frick off. This regime is going to be a disaster.

Yeah, it's craziness. I wish him well but you just don't jump into being a TE, especially after a decade break from football.

Maybe, Maybe not. As a Jags fan I’ll still take this. This is the most I’ve seen the Jags talked about in sports media.. ever. So whether or not it works, I gotta say it’s kinda nice just being somewhat relevant with this new regime.

I see the MSJWB is showing its arse yet again.

If you believe that Urban is bringing in Tebow for his on the field contributions, you’re an idiot.

He brought him in to change the locker room culture.

I mean he’s right lol. Why would anyone really look to a guy who was only signed due to nepotism as a leader? Tebow is a good guy but you have to usually contribute in some capacity to the team to be a leader. Tebow will be 34 during the season. How many 34 years old contributors are there in the NFL, much less ones who haven’t played in a decade
