Not the best racing of the year, but the best race.

Will be fun with the use of hypersofts this year. At least qualifying will be.

being debuted this weekend. the pirelli hypersoft tyre is supposedly a second quicker per lap than the ultrasofts.

expected to have very fast qualifying laps.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they are twice as soft as the current ultrasofts. Made for the purpose of running at Monaco and shattering track times.

Hmmm, that's cool.

I would have figured you'd want your tires as hard as possible(while still gripping the road).

softer = better grip. ideal for the twists and turns of monaco where top speed doesnt really come in to play.

somewhere like austin you go with harder tires for speed, durability. less concerned with cornering. overall i feel the compound makes minimal differences, but racing f1 they always trying to get fractions of time advantages.

*it should be noted that every tire is some form of "soft"

30 years ago (1988) Ayrton Senna put down the most ridiculous and best lap ever in F1 during qualifying for the Monaco GP driving the legendary McLaren MP4/4. He bested the second place qualifier, his rival and teammate Alain Prost, by nearly 1.5 seconds.

Sadly, it was not recorded on camera and no footage of it exists.

Tire degradation won’t really matter come race time, since even when the tires are used up, you still can’t pass with these wide arse cars on such a tight circuit. Qualifying should be fun to watch though.

For scale: the current F1 car has a width of 78.7 inches (just two inches more narrow than a Ford Raptor) and a Wheelbase of 141.7 inches (that’s 4 inches shorter than a 4 door Raptor!)

Watching a DTM race the other day, I noticed they had the grid girls.

Mercedes is actually longer than the raptor wheelbase.

But, all of that math really doesn't matter. You are comparing it to a Raptor, in particular, to make it sounds big. As far as width a Aventador is wider.

They need to move it back to its original day though since it's impossible for someone to win the triple crown now.

No one is going to try that again. At least not for a long time.

Alonso only went to Indy because Mclaren was trying to appease him.
