he only wins with sabans players. I completely agree with you. He can't recruit...he plays favorites....he's the 1st coach to ever have a let down game..he's the only coach in the country that will lose to the #1 and # 2 team in the world in tightly contested games (other coaches would have won)....you are completely right..he's a total P.O.S.

I suppose it would be O-line or Tight Ends. I agree that he is better as a CEO style coach who doesn't specialize in anything and that's why his current salary is a rip-off compared to Saban, Meyer, or a guy like Coach K, if we are using other sports.

But there's no way that someone gets hired to be the OC at a Big 12 school, a position coach on the Cowboys, and then a head coach at a Big 12 school (who starts to turn around a losing team) with few desirable traits.

t the fact of the matter is we r ranked in the top 10 with 2 losses to possibly the bes. 2 teams in the nation.

the rest of our schedule is dogshit, and we've struggled more often than we've played elite football

for miles, it's HC or bust

Exactly. He could likely get a position coach job via connections, but he wouldn't be a prized hire.

He's best suited to be GM-type HC. I don't think any top programs would go after him, but he could get a job at a middling BCS conference squad that just wants to consistently make bowl games.

you didn't say anything about questionable recruits, just young african Americans.

you could say that about a lot of head coaches.

At his age and having won a NC, I wouldn't think he would consider a coordinators job anyway.

Gerry D's record at Vany was not as Good as Miles at OSU, his record at LSU not as good as Miles at LSU. If he got another BCS job, so could Les.

No one would come and hire him anyway except maybe UM, but then again, the same could be said for a lot of other coaches.

Look, I agree that Miles comes off as an extremely goofy guy in interviews, and the media doesn't seem to respect him all that much outside of his recruiting and the fact that his players don't run coke rings or try to hold up kids at the Highland Texaco.

I don't know how highly he is regarded among fellow coaches because I have no football connections.

However, the guy who is basically the equivalent of Les Miles in basketball is just coming off his second title in 5 years. And unlike football, I do have some contacts in college basketball, and at least one of the most prominent coaches thinks he is a complete moron (fwiw, it's not Coach K). Yet he still wins and still brings in very good recruits.

I think Miles would be able to get a job at most any Big10 school other than tOSU.

There are plenty of ACC schools where he could go, Big East too.

Really other than Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, ND I can't think of a lot of places that wouldn't hire him. He'd probably be better than Jimbo at FSU

maybe ACC

i doubt many big10 teams other than UM and OSU have the budget to allow miles to spend $700-900k in assistant coaching salaries

Explain why Miami fell off then, if winning and locale are all that is needed to recruit.

We have facilities out the arse on Miami. Florida is taking most of the talent they want in the state right now, LSU just doesn't have someone like that to deal with. Plus Miami still has pretty damn good talent.

I agree with you, Easter Bunny. However, they couldn't afford his current salary so he is stuck at LSU unless he wants to go to Michigan. The tenured professor/head coach analogy is a pretty fair one.

roy williams does more in-season with his insane talent than les does. his problem is the one/done structure of a playoff
