I also love how the old days of the SWC are brought up.
What about the old days of USC football? Who was their competition in those days?
What about the old Big 8 when K-State was a doormat? It was basically the winner of Nebraska and OU would advance.
The old SEC? It was Alabama's to win, and some other good teams thrown in who had their share of glory in some odd seasons.
I am getting sick of this "who they played" shite when it comes to power conferences.
So what if the Pac-10 is historically weaker. USC was the favorite...and they won. It's as if being favored often and winning often is punishment. They have to be "battle-tested" or some crap like that?
They win the games on their schedule.
And NEWSFLASH! When the Big 12 was formed, it was a power conference. The South Division sucked, and the Big 12 have 3 perennial top 5 teams in Kansas State, Colorado, and Nebraska. Texas A&M was the dog with the big bite in the South, and with the help of Brown and Stoops, the tables have completely turned.
So Texas gets all the good recruits? Yeah, they get a good class each year. So we punish Mack for that?!? Is he supposed to intentionally recruit mediocre players and try to win with them because it is more impressive?
Texas has the best facilities? They are AMONG the best...but that doesn't win games.
Texas has the most money? Yeah, and unless they pay players, that's not what gets you wins on the football field.
Texas wins the games they are supposed to, and loses and ocassional game, and they are underrated? Let's see, in the past 2 seasons they have 2 losses total. They lost the BCSMNCG to a great Alabama team, while using a 2nd string freshman qb for most of the game. And they also lost to a top-5 Texas Tech team on the road on the second to last play of the game.
And because of some fluke shite, they are kept out of the conf. title game and a shot at the national title...
...so yeah, they seem underrated.

Neither was Oklahoma at that point in the year with their wide receiver quarterback.
So Texas wins. Okay, the better team won. But because OU wasn't great, and Texas wins (while we agree that they weren't that great either) then we punish Texas? I understand if Texas loses...but they didn't. The better team won, but that apparently isn't enough.

I agree that when we look back at the tru traditional power houses
USC Notre Dame Ohio State Michigan Oklahoma Nebraska Texas and Bama. Michigan and Texas are kind of a step below the other 6.
Texas has been one of the top 5 teams of the decade and that is a fact. Its also a fact that they have the most wins this decade.

In 2006 OU went 11-3, they won the Big 12. The games they lost? At Oregon by 1 on the controversial onside kick game, by 1 in the Fiesta Bowl to Boise (I trust we remember how that game ended) and tho Texas 28-10. Texas lost their last 2 games after McCoy got hurt. Both teams where actually pretty good that year.. 2007 was when Texas was down a bit.

It was 1 idiot bringing that up. The best part is he thinks because half of the old SWC is not in BCS conferences that proves they were always bad.

They do get a good class every year. So does OU, so does Florida, LSU, USC and some other teams. Getting a good class all the time does not mean you are getting better players than other top teams.

any one who thinks other wise is a brithering idiot or just a Texas hater.

I throw this out when ever this stupid topic come up and these tards always ignore it, but his last 2 years at UNC, he lost a grand total of 3 games* and UNC was 1-10 before hiring him. Since he left though UNC has lost AT LEAST 5 GAMES EVERY YEAR. But no he can't coach
Also, these same 'tards calling Mack overrated would likely drop to their knees to service Butch Davis, and most of the LSU ones would have him near the top of their list to replace Miles. Butch Davis who has only had ONE team in his career finish in the top 12. Butch Davis who has NOT HAD A TEAM FINISH IN THE TOP 25 SINCE THE YEAR 2000.
But the most aggravating thing about this topic is that people are too stupid to understand what the word "overrated" means. Who exaxtly is rating Mack Brown so high that he could even possibly be considered overrated? It seems 90% of posts about him are calling him overrated and basically saying he sucks.

Prior to 1996, Florida had fewer SEC titles than Tulane. Thus, Florida is overrated according to JoBoo.

I'd be willing to bet over the 14 years of the Big 12 only OU, USC, Ohio State and Florida have won more conference titles.
Don't slight LSU in your pwn3ing here. We have won 3 SEC titles.

Yes Oklahoma won the Big 12 in 2006, but it was still their weakest team that decade outside of 2005 and 2009.
It looks like you should change your name to H-Town Longhorn. Burn.

Well I'll confess, I was pretty much on my knees for Butch when Saban left. But yeah, when you look at his overall record its not exactly stellar. What's really funny is what people love about Butch is he rebuilt Miami, though he left before winning. Rebuilding is one of 2 things tards love in a coach (the other is that he gets mad and throws things like his headphones or visor). Mack Brown rebuilt TWO programs. Butch builds Miami, bolts for the NFL and they win a NC AFTER he leaves, but he gets the credit. Mack builds UNC into a top 5 team, goes to Texas, builds them into a top 5 team, wins a NC at Texas, but tards want to give all the credit to Vince Young

sorry but I have a pathological hatred for stupidity and illogic. I'll defend anything I feel is being unfairly attacked. The facts speak for themselves.

Right. Stronger than Texas.

Or you're from Houston. If this was some topic about Michigan, Oregon, or some random program like that you wouldn't be fighting it with such ferocity and dedication.
