Is Mathieu's dismissal the biggest name to get kicked out in CFB history?

With Tyrann Mathieu getting dismissed today from LSU, I started to think about what other big name players have been kicked out of their schools in the past. I don't know of anyone that had the on-the-field results that Mathieu had who was kicked off. Closest I can think of is Maurice Clarret. Any old timers know of anyone else?

Duron Carter.

Randy Moss hadn't don't anything at Florida St and Durin Carter is a scrub.

Rhett Bomar at Oklahoma was a pretty big deal for his car dealership stuff

This is a bigger deal than any of those listed.

Thought about him, but when he was dismissed he was just a highly touted recruit with no actual results.
He obviously turned out to be phenomenal, but at the time it was not nearly as big as Mathieu will be.

Wasn't there a Heisman candidate at Oklahoma in the 80s who got busted for either armed robbery or coke dealing?

A heisman finalist vs the son of a great player that has done absolutely nothing in college

TM7 had the most Heisman votes of any player in CFB going into this season and was a first team All-American in 2 positions in almost every publication.
Not looking through P&G glasses, this is sadly a pretty big deal.

Agreed. I would also say that if there was ever a school that could withstand losing a Heisman favorite at DB, it would be LSU this year. I think LSU still wins the NC with or without TM7.
As big of a name as Mathieu is, losing Mett would have been infinitely worse. Weird.

Cecil "The Diesel" Collins was huge at that time, but he wasn't what TM7 is today

can he join the NFL now, or does he have to wait?

He's not draft eligable until next year

He isn't three years removed from HS, so he has to sit for a year instead of petitioning for entry into a supplemental draft.
