Is Luka basically a better rebounding version of Harden?

I mean, their offensive juggernauts at their peak but always a black hole for the defense.

Harden’s teams never won a title, and Luka could be the same. Both are/were not in the best shape at their peak, and neither seemed to care about improving that.

Only difference I see is Luka doesn’t completely shrink in big playoff games like Harden did.

Still, both are limited by their effort on the other side and it hurts their teams significantly.

I didn’t read all that, but when I see subject lines like this it just blows my mind….I mean, what are you guys seeing? Harden is 58, Luka is just 25 for starters. Luka averaged 34/9/9 last year and made it to The Finals…..Harden?? What??

There you go. I’m not a harden guy, but he could and probably should have a ring or two.

Even if your premise is true, which is certainly debatable, you don’t trade a 25 year old elite scorer for a 32 year old center with a LONG injury history without even shopping him.

This is one of the most insane trades in the history of sports

What? Harden has always been jacked. He makes Luka is a little fatass. At worst Harden might have had a little gut in the offseason.

And Harden would probably have a ring or two if his prime didn’t exist at the same time the Warriors dynasty was at its peak. And he still gave them all they could handle, and honestly should have taken them out if CP3 doesn’t get injured.

I mean at his peak? Sure. But at the end of his Houston tenure and moving onto other teams, he always carried heavy weight.

My comparison is each at their prime, not Harden now. For Harden Prime, I am looking at the latter years in HTown.

Again, Luka is an amazing players, but I don’t think we have seen as big of a superstar be so bad at defense, especially since defense is heavily about effort. When Hardeb actually put effort on defense, he was decent to good. I don’t see that with Luka yet.

He was always in shape with Houston. He briefly appeared pudgy when he was trying to force his way out. And even then it was mostly an unflattering photo that blew up making him look way bigger than he actually was.

And he’s been in shape even after Houston.

Luka being terrible at defense is over hyped. Is he a top tier, lock down 1 on 1 defender? No not at all. But his defense made Dallas better when healthy. He plays passing lanes well, rebounds well. He can give you 35/10/10 on any given night and damn near averaged that last year. That's worth getting blown by a few times per night in 1 on 1 situations.

Luka is a European version of Zion

When healthy he’s a top 3 generational

But like Zion he lacks the drive and discipline to be truly great and thus is out of shape and injured a lot

Like many Europeans not being as obese and out of shape as Americans, Luka stays slightly healthier but neither will ever amount to anything as a nba player unless they grow up and develop leadership skills

Luka led the 2024 playoffs in points, assists, rebounds, steals, and minutes played, yet is being compared to Zion

Who’s never played, including his year at Duke. And even when they’re both healthy Luka is twice the player.

I swear some of yall don’t actually watch the games

the people who brag about not watching the nba for years are the ones saying shite like “Luka is the best player the Mavs have ever had”

From a natural ability standpoint he’s amazing but lacks the leadership skills and drive to be truly great

I’m not the gm of Dallas

Nor do I think it was a good move

I do understand not committing to a non-committed athlete but Dallas did a poor job dumping him off unless there’s more o the story
