Is it time to remove the NCAA from any standing when it comes to the major sports?

The NCAA has consistently proven itself incompetent in governing the major sports for years now. It’s their mishandling of this limited number of players’ eligibility that has caused all of this hullabaloo between the SEC and LSU.
I don’t mind keeping them around to govern swimming, golf, lacrosse, and other similar sports. I do believe that they should be completely removed from any governance of football and basketball, and you should probably also include baseball and hockey. Enough screwing things up.

Not necessarily. They need to just make players employees and collectively bargain. The NCAA can continue to be the ruling figure after they bargain.

Idk what should happen, but I believe what will happen is that neither the NCAA, nor the conferences will be in charge of football before long.
The big boys will end up in something that mirrors the pro leagues.

The current NCAA model yes but in a perfect world there would be a national governing body Jarvis not driven by agendas. Then each conference could add their own extras on top of the standard.
There has to be a national standard for all the schools or else it’s just not a fair start.
For example the IVY leagues could require certain grade point above the standard.
A conference could require above the standard but that’s a choice of theirs

I think all college hockey programs would prefer to be governed by College Hockey Inc. For those that do not know College Hockey Inc. was formed in 2009 to partner with USA Hockey to grow and promote NCAA D1 hockey and they often provide suggestions and information to the NCAA concerning college hockey.
Hockey is a different sport that hockey people should be in charge of, not NCAA bureaucrats.
