CBS was paying the SEC jack for the #1 game in college football every week for years and refused to increase payouts ( or increased them very little) once A&M and Mizzou were added. Holding onto them for nostalgic sake would not add to the bottom line. So the conference left.
Ill personally miss Bead Messier and the SEC theme but that's about it.

I didn’t even mention, Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams, should have won their bowl last year, USC better be preseason Top 5. They’re back

The network is under no obligation to pay a dollar more than it already does for the league’s entire inventory,
The SEC is also under no obligation to stay with ESPN/Disney once the deal expires. With Amazon, Apple, YouTube, and such jumping into the game, this may end up biting ESPN in the arse.

The SEC and ACC are both ESPN properties, so there is no reason for ESPN to cannibalize its own properties.
The Big 10 is mostly owned by Fox and CBS going forward, so they have an incentive to steal valuable franchises from other conferences
Wouldn't say no reason. If ACC schools are entertaining the idea of leaving the ACC for a Fox brand, there would be a reason to help SEC expand to keep from losing a solid market.

It may be. It won't pay more for 9 SEC games.
Dude, ESPN is laying people off left and right… They can’t afford to pay more.
