How many non-HOFers do you think out there can compare some of their stats to other HOFers?
Does everyone who averages approximately 20 and 10 deserve to be in the hall of fame because James Worthy is in?

Why would I answer any question of yours when you've dodged a question I asked about 4 times now???
Do me a favor, list all of the 3rd options in history you know that averaged 19/9 on 50% shooting. Let me know what you come up with.

You assumed incorrectly.
What did I avoid exactly? Funny, considering how many posts you made and you're still avoiding my question I asked you.
If you wanna know exactly what I meant, go read it again. THAT is what I meant.
/cue another post with ZERO reasoning for your position.

Answer my question and I'll start answering yours.
This is ridiculous.
I also didn't realize Zach Randolph was Memphis's 3rd option. It must be something only you and those guys who know anything about basketball realize.

You sure do post in a lot of threads about the Heat not to be a fan.
quote:How many years has Bosh been a third option?
I also didn't realize Zach Randolph was Memphis's 3rd reaction.
Not to mention it simply proves the point that stats don't tell the whole story.

Bosh may get to the hall.. but only due to his teammates..

Can you try an answer with reason and logic and not "well any fan knows this", since that isn't an actual answer. You never once explained a real rational reason why Bosh doesn't compare favorabl to Worthy. If you did, show me where.

This is true, like so many others guys in the Hall, who aren't bashed for it(not that you bashed him).

quote:I never said he didn't compare favorably to Worthy stats wise. My point all along is that stats can be misleading.
You never once explained a real rational reason why Bosh doesn't compare favorabl to Worthy.
Also, I never alleged anything about Worthy. You found a HOFer who played in a different era for which you could compare favorably stats wise to Bosh and want to dismiss everything else not related to the stat comparison to Worthy as illogical.
When I show you contemporaries that are not HOFers who compare favorably to Bosh, you ignore the question saying I haven't answered yours. While in fact, I was answering your question by illustrating the point that stats aren't everything when determining an NBA HOFer and looking at Zach Randolph is one of many examples to prove that.

So because I make arguments and back them up with reason and logic, THAT is the assumpion? That logic doesn't really make sense IMO.

No shite, I've only been asking you about that for 2 pages now.

I actually answered it twice, while you're still ignoring mine, but ok.

quote:That's my point. It's a strawman argument. It is your argument designed around your flawed premise that if someone can compare somewhat favorable to James Worthy stat wise, then they are a HOFer.

ETA: I re-read, you haven't answered my question: Is Randolph a HOFer?
Are you a Heat fan?

I'm a HUGE NBA fan, and maybe you noticed, 90% of basketball threads are about the Heat, so draw your own conclusions there.

You say statwise, I say production-wise. Production and efficiency reigns over anything, especially PERCEPTION.

I know, but no one would have ever mistaken Abdur-Rahim as a potential HoF'er either.

Rahim fizzled out at 27.
Which is why I said "he is going to have to do a Hell of a lot more to garner serious consideration."

quote:Good, we can bring this a little closer to home. Is David West a HOFer? Bosh is more comparable to West, Stoudemire, Randolph, etc. than he is to Worthy.
Hornets fan.
ETA: You still haven't answered the one about Randolph either.

West's career numbers are inferior to Bosh. He's never had production as high as Bosh, and his production as a 2nd option is about the same as Bosh as a 3rd option.
Again, production/efficiency trumps perception every time, or at least it should.

ETA: You still haven't answered the one about Randolph either.
I'll make this easier for you. Any player who can routinely average 22/10 on 50% shooting, then be a 3rd option and average 19/9 and(again this entire debate was on an assumption) while winning multiple titles will definitely have production that is definitely comparable to other like HOFers.
I hope that clears it up.

quote:But comparable. Also, West was never really a number 1 on a bad team in a bad conference, thus unable to pad his stats.
West's career numbers are inferior to Bosh.
quote:An over emphasis of even the best stat, is still an over emphasis. Stats are one important measure, but not the exclusive measure of a player.
Again, production/efficiency trumps perception every time, or at least it should.
quote:Should the fact that he is playing with arguable 2 of the top 5 players in the league be factored in? Or that fact that you could replace him with probably 10-15 other similar guys in the league right now and Miami would be as good or better?
