Historical stats for WRs and QBs are no longer a good way to determine HOF worthiness. The game and rules have changed too much. Those positions need to be weighed against their contemporaries.

Was he ever an All Pro? Was he ever considered a Top 5 WR?

No, but he was very good with a lot of bad QBs. People will look at him bouncing around the league negatively but he was very good during his prime.

WRs have a hard time getting in. Too many of his contemporaries are in front of him in line to get in.

Too many guys before him IMO. I'd leave him out but if I was betting I'd say he'd get inducted in 20 years or so.

If I have to think about whether someone's a hall of famer, he's not a hall of famer, heres the thing: I just researched his stats and he recorded a ton of understated 100-catch seasons and a game where he recorded almost 20 receptions to me he didn't stand out as a dominant transformative receiver that normally gets inducted first ballot like Lance Alworth, Jerry Rice, Moss. Since the receiver position is very expendable compared to quarterbacks, dominant offensive and defensive linemen, and dominant edge rushers, accordingly the journalists who vote for enshrinement don't induct them first-ballot unless they were clearly the dominant transformative receiver of their era like those aforementioned receivers of which there are few.

2 times. 1 time first team, 1 time 2nd team.

Nope.

Some of the best WRs of all time are still on the outside looking in on the Hall. And Marshall couldn’t hold their jocks.

There are ten guys ahead of him in yardage who are not in. It's just hard to get in at WR right now.

He played on two playoff teams.

Unfortunately, they were both in the same season and both teams cut him before the playoffs began.

to me, I always generally knew of Marshall because of a couple of good statistical seasons he submitted in Denver with Cutler as QB but since then he was always on the periphery to me because he was always bouncing from team to team, those teams never accomplished anything, he wasn't achieving Julio Jones/Gronk/AB/OBJ feats on the reg and, if he did, I never heard about them and now his career has completely burned out to oblivion and all that, really hard case to argue if we're contemplating first-ballot if any status for HOF

Brandon Marshall is basically Andre Rison playing in a more juiced up era for compiling receiving numbers. No, he's not getting in.

It seems that, historically, to get in as a WR, you have to have had top 10 all-time numbers and/or at least had post-season success. Let's face it, conference and SB championships do matter. He was a fine receiver, but he doesn't stand out.

i think so, although it is tougher for receivers. but dude was a stud. these are his nfl records and milestones for receiving. This doesnt take into account that he was a great blocker too. The fact that he played for bad teams doesnt really make sense as a counterargument (see larry fitzgerald, odell, andre johnson, calvin johnson, deandre hopkins)

First to have a 1,000 receiving yard season with four different teams (Denver, Miami, Chicago and NYJ)
Most seasons with 100+ receptions (6)
Most receptions in an NFL game (21)
Third-most receptions in an NFL game (18)
Most receptions spanning five games in NFL history (55)
First player in NFL history to have at least 10 receptions in four out of five games (now tied with Calvin Johnson)
First player since 1960 to record eight career games of at least 10 receptions in his first four seasons
Fifth player in NFL history (first Broncos player; one of six total) to have at least 100 receptions in three straight seasons
Ninth player in NFL history (second Broncos player) to have at least 100 receptions in back-to-back seasons (2007 and 2008)
Caught 102 passes in 2007(second-career NFL season), becoming only the third second-year player in NFL history to have at least 100 receptions in a season
