Louisiana produces/has produced a ton of talent in both sports and entertainment

I see a lot of people scoffing at you, Bowl, but haven't seen a better list yet.
Posted on 7/29/16 at 9:53 am to JuiceTerry
Juice, while he names quite a few great athletes, only one is considered a possible goat(aaron.)
Let's say Maryland:
Babe Ruth: no question baseball GOAT
Michael Phelps: no question swimming GOAT
That list of only 2 people is better than Alabama, because they are actually GOATs

You're being obtuse and trying to downplay my list if you can't agree the following names don't at least come up in the discussion for, as you put it, possible GOAT: Owens, Lewis, Aaron, Mays, Louis, Hamm, and Jackson.
You contradict yourself by calling Aaron a possible GOAT and then in the very next line calling Ruth the "no question GOAT".
And news flash, there is absolutely a question about a fat unhealthy guy who played 85 years ago as GOAT. I've already been over in this thread that the persistent ranking of Ruth as #1 is lingering propaganda from the days when they refused to rank a black man, Mays, as the best ever over a white man.

Actually, Aaron would be one of the more dubious to me. Willie Mays is hailed as the best ever by a lot of people. I'm talking about baseball people. Jesse Owens set 3 world records and tied a 4th in less than an hour. "The greatest 45 minutes in sport". And that wasn't even the Olympics where he won 4 golds. Bo Jackson is definitely up there with anybody, although I don't know exactly what category he would be. Joe Louis definitely has an argument.

Although only one is GOAT, these guys all played high school ball/grew up in North Carolina.
Michael Jordan-Laney HS, Wilmington
Pete Maravich-Broughton HS, Raleigh
Stephen Curry-Charlotte Christian HS, Charlotte
Dominique Wilkins-Washington HS, Washington
Cedric Maxwell-Kinston HS, Kinston
Jerry Stackhouse-Kinston HS, Kinston
Brandon Ingram-Kinston HS, Kinston
John Wall-Word of God HS, Raleigh
Chris Paul-West Forsyth HS, Winston-Salem area
James Worthy-Ashbrook HS, Gastonia
David Thompson-Crest HS, Shelby
Meadowlark Lemon-Wilmington
Curly Neal-Dudley HS, Greensboro
You could make a case for four GOATs...
MJ-greatest ever
Dominique-greatest dunker
Meadowlark Lemon-greatest Harlem Globetrotter
David Thompson-greatest ACC player
Won't count Pistol since he moved around a lot. Still a pretty impressive list.

You prove your idoicy every time you post something.Ruth
was the best pitcher in 1919,Lifetime BA of .343 and one of the best RF of his time and stop with this race bullshite.Hank only hit 67 HR's of non white pitchers...Willie hit less than that.So do we want to go ahead and throw out their records?

Lifetime.300 hitter and more HR's but Mays could make a case as top 5'er.

And do you really think the players of 1919 stack up to guys even 30-40 years later when Mays was playing? GTFO
Posted on 7/29/16 at 4:00 pm to BowlJackson
You say that and then list Jesse Owens as the Track and Field GOAT?

It was the dead ball era you stupid frick...Babe was great in every era

He talks propaganda like Jesse Owens isn't most known for not shaking Hitlers hand.
I don't even think his times would crack the top 20 best 100m or 200m of the last 20 yrs, yet he says Ruth played in adifferent era.
Eta... Upon further review,
Owens 100m has been ran faster 1,042 times
200m - faster 425 times
Lewis
100m - faster 82 times
200m - faster 41 times.
LINK
GOAT does not apply to these 2. Had Usain Bolt been born in AL, then you could say GOAT!

Babe would be Prince Fielder in the modern era. A lazy fat frick who can hit. Hell, he might not be able to pass a physical to be able to play today with all those hot dogs and smoking
Posted on 7/29/16 at 6:30 pm to Kevin TheRant
Yeah, Owens is definitely isn't known for winning 4 gold medals in one day. Or for setting 3 world records and tying another in a span of 45 minutes, known as the greatest 45 minutes in sports history.
ESPN ranked Owens as the #6 athlete of all-time in any sport.
With modern training he'd be just as good today as he was then. Modern training wouldn't make a difference for Babe Ruth because he was fat and too lazy for it to matter, he'd be a Prince Fielder clone in today's MLB

You're talking 45 min in 1936, I'm talking All Time.
That ESPN list has Ruth at #2 and Ali at #3.
Ali, the guy you said was was good, but more of polarizing figure. (More of the same reason Owens is so well known)
And
Ruth, a guy you said was a lazy fat arse.
2 guys from the ESPN list your referring tol, that you have discredited in this thread.
Come on man, pull your head out of your arse.

Mia Hamm is the most famous American soccer player ever.
You said Ali was the most famous boxer of all time, but not the best in the ring. So if Hamm being the most famous American woman soccer player = GOAT status, then you gotta say the same thing for Ali. And Marta > Hamm and not really close.

First, Jesse Owens only competed in one Olympic games.
Second, we're talking all time, not 45 min in 1936.

I dont see any GOATS in there. I see a bunch of great players in their era.
