They lost to Iowa and Texas.

It doesn't matter if you have a Ph.D. from Harvard if you also rub mashed potatoes all over your resume.

USC, NC State, Michigan State. That's the resume of a team with 3 better wins, and the only loss is 1 point to the second ranked team. Iowa State is having a great season but let's be real.

Yeah Notre Dame has a better winning resume, IMO.

As of now, no one. But they also have two pretty bad losses so they need a lot of help to reach the playoff. Incredibly unlikely IMO.

If they're made right.

Iowa State used boxed Walmart brand mashed potatoes with no butter.

Maybe. The best chances are Farmageddon in Manhattan or Ok St at home. They aren't losing to WVU or Baylor.

Even if Iowa State finishes 11-2 with a Big 12 CCG, they would be left out. The committee would stick a 3 loss "name brand" in the playoffs before the Cyclones unfortunately.

I hope they win the big 12.

How are those wins better than two top 5 wins, one on the road?

Should have edited, it's a better overall resume, not that those wins by themselves are better.

For starters, let's not act like Oklahoma/TCU are on the same plane as USC, NC State, and Michigan State.

Iowa State's wins are better than anyone in the country. Their losses are bad though.

I'd disagree, but I suppose it's close. I put a lot of stock into beating OU on the road, where they hardly ever lose.

Either way, the two losses to Iowa and Texas are bad. If they had beaten one of them they'd be in the top 10, but not with both.

They're basically the 2017 version of 2016 Pitt.

I'm not saying they are, but the way the world works is those teams aren't top 5 teams now (fair or not)

Is beating TCU really that impressive of a win? They very well could lose 2 or 3 more games this year.

Iowa State has a legit chance to finish tops of the Big 12.

Big 12 isn't making the playoff unless it's Oklahoma, IMO.
