When that person is Lavar Ball and it's an already saturated market, no.

And this snap your fingers and get free publicity shite is going to dry up when Lonzo gets to the NBA.

Then I guess the shoe money doesn't matter.

No, a highly successful shoe deal with residual revenue stream is the way to NOT be broke. Most NBA players don't make another payday after they stop playing. Ball signing with a legit shoe company would have doubled the income during his playing years and still provided him with cash after. But that's being flitted away with this nonsense.

That doesn't equal sales.

But its a real good start and could equal sales.

ou don't think people will invest in a guy that can snap his fingers and be on every message board in the world as well as front page news on ESPN.

It's not that hard to be on the front page of The MSB.

There's plenty of basketball players that can grab headline news. And those players don't have a parasite father who puts himself in every deal his son does and tries to take control

You think once this thing bust, Lavar is gonna go "oh well, let's go back to Nike"

frick no, that egotistical maniac wouldn't be able to live with that admittance of failure.

Let's take a head count, who in here is considering buying these shoes?

I'll wait

Why do you doubt it? This is business. There's an established dynamic between two sides right now, an unproven rookie vs 3 mega-shoe companies. The companies have the leverage now. If that changes and Lonzo looks like the next big thing, why wouldn't they be back? Out of spite?

I don't think that we necessarily disagree. Your point is that this is a risky strategy, and I have never disagreed with that. But you doubt that there is potential tremendous upside?

I think Lonzo would but the shoe companies would tell him to frick off or lowball him. But he's not going to be able to make any serious move until the little brothers are done with college because Lavar will keep trying to make them a package.

Lonzo's name keeps getting bigger. That isn't going to lose him money. They'll all bid for him because he's a name. The only thing that ruins him is if he sucks. But if anyone in here got 12 million for sucking at their job, then I'd congratulate them.

If a company thinks he'll make them money, then he'll get paid.

I can't think of a single reason to buy these over Lebrons, KDs, Kyries, Jordans

no one is going to buy this garbage.

I can't think of a reason to buy any of these ugly shoes made in sweat shops. People seem to find a reason.

I'd bet anything this initial price is a ploy. In a couple of months they'll slash the price by half or a little more. They created an anchor with the $495 price, so when they slash it to $199, it now looks like a "deal," when $199 is where they wanted it to be in the first place.

Not saying they're worth it even at that price(I don't think any basketball shoe is), but it's a legitimate marketing strategy.

Then you look desperate to sell shoes and no one wants a marked down shoe in that demographic

Again, everything depends on if Lonzo is great or not. If he's great, they'll sell.

No, Lavar's act will still get plenty of publicity for Lonzo. Problem is that once the season tips off, Lavar's antics will bring more and more scrutiny to Lonzo's play on the court. If he isn't playing at a rookie of the year type of level, then the criticism is going to be non-stop. Lonzo better have some thick skin to handle it
