Yes 247 shows ratings as a transfer. IU brought in three “4 stars as transfers” last year

They do rate transfers again when ranking classes in an individual year, but the composite team talent rankings use everyone’s high school rating.

Pat Coogan for example was a 4 star transfer and rated as such for purposes of rating Indiana’s class last year. But in the team talent ratings, Coogan is still a 3 star because that’s what he was coming out of high school.

They may change the way they do that after this year.

OK so they still have no 5 stars and the rest are 3* or less? Not exactly a huge needle shift.

The graphic showed them having seven 4* anyway so who's to say that isn't calculated in the graphic?

Should an Indiana national title change long held beliefs regarding how recruits are rated or how important recruiting is (the “stars matter” talk”)?

No

Indiana has guys that want it more than anyone and a coach that wants it more than anyone

That’s great and all but they’re also pretty damn talented individually.

All this talk about heart and shite is useless without real talent too. They’re not winning these games without legit talent.

All these top 25 teams have a lot of talent. NFL players, all Americans, all conference—but Indiana has that and everyone of the team plays like they’re a walkon and every snap might be their last chance. It really is remarkable how hard they play, and that’s Iowas trademark. They do it better. There is nobody going to outwork this team in a game. It’s just not possible.

I don’t disagree with you- I’m just pointing out that a lot of times these conversations devolve into a bunch of BS about bringing the proverbial lunch pale to work which ultimately just minimizes the actual talent of the individual or team.

I knew a lot of guys that had a ton of heart but couldn’t play worth a shite because they didn’t have talent.
