I always look forward to the "Elvis played in Shreveport that one time," Louisiana Hayride part of every I-Bowl broadcast.
And the NSU band pretending to be the band for one of the teams.

All that means is that it's one of the original superfluous bowls. And it's only a 10 year difference with the Outback Bowl. Which is also superfluous.

the Independence Bowl is not superfluous. the bowl committee, the sponsor, the local businesses and the hundreds of volunteers all would agree that you are superfluous. you should visit the Shreveport Tourist Commission and share your thoughts. I'm sure they will be delighted.

I'm just glad that it willbe the Independence Bowl again. I hate how bowls kowtow tithe sponsors and cheapen their product.

BTW, the Louisiana Hayride was almost as big as the Grand Ole Opry and was broadcast over several states over Shreveport station KWKH. In many ways, it was a big early influence in Elvis' career.
