As much as I like watching Dirk there is a pretty glaring hole in his rebounding.
Post 98-99 Lockout (the year Dirk broke into the league) Dirk is 4th overall with 20 pt 10 rebound games.
1 Tim Duncan 416
2 Kevin Garnett 403
3 Shaq 329
4 Dirk 293
5 C-Webb 223
(Dwight Howard has 210 for those interested)
Anyway, if dig deeper and look at the 20-10 games with 1 or less Offensive rebound
1 Dirk 145
2 KG 77
3 Paul Pierce 45
4 Lebron 42
In almost half of Dirks 20/10 games does not do work on the offensive glass.

He's almost always been a mid-post/perimeter player. It shouldn't surprise anyone that he's a sub-par offensive rebounder. Conversely, his defensive rebounding has always been above average.

I dont really see this entire post as a negative thing! 4th in 20/10 games is pretty solid.
He's a shooter and wouldnt be in position for as many offensive boards but appears to make it up on the defensive end.
Splitting hairs.

This. I don't know why people are surprised that a guy that is always out around the 3 point line doesn't get a lot of offensive rebounds.

Your post just proved that this whole thread topic is full of fail. How can the man who is fourth in 20/10 games over the last 12 seasons be considered an awful, soft rebounder?

So that's a reason not to cheer for them?

What's the fun in them winning in their first year together, with no real adversity?

As a fan, I'd rather there still be some drama in the next few years as to who is going to win the title.
quote:The Mavs would if they could find some 7-footers who knew how to crash the boards and play defense once in a while.
But if they don't, who is going to beat this core on the Heat as they just get a better supporting cast around them?
But nice fadeaway, Dirk. Real nice.

Honestly, if my team (Spurs) aren't in the finals (rarely happens), then I pick the least hated team.
In this case, it's Miami.
I will never, ever root for the Mavs, even when they play the Lakers.
That organization is just nauseating to me. The owner is a huge douche bag that shops at baby gap and thinks his haircut is cool.
Dirk is just a pussy that is one dimensional on the court and probably off it. And Jason Terry went ahead and got a tattoo of the finals trophy.
Enough said.
Whats fun about a message board is you can come on here and tell people how you really feel.
I have a friend that sucks Dirks cock every time he can. Needless to say, I can't tell him shite like this because we'd probably end our friendship if I did.

If anyone doesn't crash the boards, it's almost always the point guard, not a goddamn 7-footer.

You're a clueless bandwagoner
and xiv is a butthurt Hornets fan.
Dirk/Chandler have better defensive rebound rates than anyone on the Heat so far this postseason.

at a guy averaging over 10 rebounds a game for his playoff career being a bad rebounder.

Either you're full of shite, or Cuban is a shitty owner. I'll go with the former.

$11 million of that payroll is in a suit
And it doesn't change the fact that the Mavs have no stars or all-NBA players to compliment Nowitzki
Meanwhile Kobe has Gasol, Lebron has Wade, Duncan has Parker/Ginobili, and Garnett has Pierce/Rondo..
Dirk's defensive rebounding has been poor this postseason, but its an exception to the rule.
Dirk's tougher than anyone on the Hornets.

The payroll argument is weak stuff... look at just how bad the Mavs were with Nowitzki out... 2-7 and uncompetitive in a lot of the losses.

quote:The Heat and Mavericks have played the same amount of games (16) so far in the postseason. Total number of playoff rebounds:
Dirk/Chandler have better defensive rebound rates than anyone on the Heat so far this postseason.
Chandler 144
Bosh 143
James 142
Nowitzki 121
Wade 118
That's why the Heat will win--their big 3 work hard on the boards. There's no way Wade should be anywhere near Dirk, and there's no way James should be outrebounding him.
