Those are valid points to be made on that side of the argument, none of which I've actually debated or really care to get into. I was merely questioning the other poster's blind support for the owners merely b/c they're owners.
ETA: though others have rebutted this quite well.

How about having allegiance to the owners because they've made you all filthy rich, richer than you'd ever be if the league didn't exist? Or because the owners still may the multimillion dollar salaries to a player who goes on IR and can't contribute. Or because the owners put them up at swanky hotels on the road, have people to cater to anything they want....
my god.
What wonderful owners these are! Just magical people. Volunteering all their time and money for these poor souls and getting nothing in return.

For instance, what if Bob Kraft had to use profits from the Patriots to keep his factories open?
Then he should be a better businessman or get out of football. There are people with more money than him where they wouldn't have to do this.
What if a Pats players wants to take his extra couple mil and start a business venture? Same scenario, smaller scale.

I think NASCAR would benefit more than anyone else from a football strike. Right now they have their playoffs on sundays during football season and nobody hardly watches anymore. If I had a choice between nothing, and a nascar chase race, I'd probably watch parts of the race.

well I'll be goddamned if this whole fight isn't going to revolve around the value of kick returners.
There are outliers like Warner etc. But they're not the norm.
If you think you're just gonna go scour rec leagues for Clay Matthews or Aaron Rodgers, think again.
The league's leading rusher this year only started because of injuries to 2 men on the depth chart ahead of him.
There are numerous talented players riding benches all over the league right now. You are just ignorant to that fact.

This is especially insulting from a guy who thinks he passed ten guys who could play like Peyton Manning walking down the street today.

Good luck trying to reach these retards. I'm done with this bullshite for the night. They counter cogent arguments with 'lulz' and repeat the same wrong shite over and over again. It reminds of the quote "Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."

I'm well aware of how that works. But again, those are exceptions.
As it stands now, FANS WILL KNOW WHEN THEY'RE BEING SOLD A FAULTY PRODUCT AND WILL RESPOND WITH THEIR WALLETS.
Maybe Tom Brady Jr. is out there somewhere, but unless he's on the Pats right out of the gate you're gonna have a pissed off fan base.
Who exactly shall be replacing Vick? Call up Ryan Perrilloux maybe? Think Eagles fans are gonna be going nuts for ole Perrilloux?

Just put a #7 on him nobody will ever know the difference. He only seems slower because your cable box is messed up.

Why should he? He's there, he owns the rights to the team, so he's obviously made a sound business decision. But if he needs to use money from a successful business to help a struggling business, like many multiple business owners do, then why doesn't he have the right?
Do you think the players would be willing to share the financial risks in owning a team also? Or do they just want to share the profits? That sounds totally sane.

You are acting like every player in the league is a big a star as Peyton Manning. Hell it wasn't until the playoffs got started that Aaron Rodgers became a big star. Hell the Packers had to rely on guys like Andrew Quarless, Brett Swain, John Kuhn, and James Starks down the stretch for offesive production. None of those guys were stars and before the playoff run, no one had heard of them, yet they were all solid contributors to the Packers in the playoffs.
Just because the NFL markets its elite of the elite doesn't mean that 95& of the league can't be replaced.
You idiots STILL are assuming that players won't cross. They can and would. The league will move on with or without Drew Brees.

The league is more full of exceptions then rules, under your definition of it.

And for every fan who doesn't renew their ticket, another fan will take their place in the stands. People will still watch football and will still watch the NFL. You are placing WAY too much stock into the names on the back of the jerseys. It's very clear that you care more about seeing guys YOU like more than the game itself.

That's just it, the product wouldn't be faulty for long. How many Pro Bowlers this year had 3 or fewer years experience in the league?
And I'm not going to say a guy that runs a 4.3 looks the same as a guy running a 4.7, but a guy running a 4.3 being chased be a guy running a 4.5 looks a whole lot like a guy running a 4.7 being chased by a guy running a 4.9. It just takes less than a second longer to get to the endzone.

we didn't watch the XFL, why would we watch other shitty players?

I haven't read through the thread but are any of the people saying that players will break the lines because they need money know why the union decertified?
If they successfully sue under anti-trust (they obviously feel very confident about their case) then they are going to rolling in the fricking dough.

People didn't watch the XFL for many reasons, but shitty players was not one of the reasons.

I didn't think someone could be so wrong so much, but you've managed to do so all over this thread.

jesus man come on.
Their financial risk (!!!!!onoz!!) is offset by the fact a player can blow out in training camp and then not get a dollar more. Career over. So that's another argument in our coffer.
