Some players do that, but I'll go out on a limb and say NFL owners collectively employ more people than NFL players. Thus the success of the NFL owners is more important than the players.

If the players were so shitty then why did many of them make their way to NFL rosters?

Again there were many reasons for the XFL's failure, but players weren't among them.

That's like saying the USFL and all of it's future NFL Hall of Famers failed just because of player quality.

and that's all for me in this thread.

You sir, are absolutely terrible at arguing and thinking in general. Your brain gets a D- for the day, and that's only because you didn't fall down and drool to death.

obviously but that's why I said it's a smaller scale.

If he starts a business venture that grows larger then the game changes a little.

Or he takes his money and invests in the next google. Few years time, he's trying to own a team.

Their financial risk (!!!!!onoz!!) is offset by the fact a player can blow out in training camp and then not get a dollar more. Career over. So that's another argument in our coffer.

So the player takes a risk of injuring himself and being forced to take a normal job like everyone else? You mean they'd be poor without the NFL? Ya don't say.

The owner still pays the player's salary eventhough he is of no use to his business anymore. If Sally the chicken plucker broke both her hands, the chicken company wouldn't still pay her her yearly salary.

ETA: I'm just curious how much you think an owner should be paying a player that can't contribute to the team.

Because the league needs backup scrubs. Turnover Tommy Maddox the only guy to ever do anything and he was already an NFL 1st rounders. Maybe throw in Steve Gleason for greatest moment ever purposes.

By the way, Gamecock Alum and I are not on the same team. We just happen to share similar viewpoints. Just wanted to make that clear.

How do you cross a lockout? The owners are locking out the players

And you are forever linked with being an idiot. Congrats.

The league was around before Brees and Brady and will survive long after they are gone, even if they never play another down. That's just the reality of the situation.

Wrong. In the event of a lockout, the player regains all of his rights to do as he pleases.

So you're saying all players are now free agents? Why are they having a draft next month?

I got in on the first page, then missed the entire thread at work, and was just catching up. Lots of knowledge being dropped by GCA, so I'm just trying to learn

It's a lockout retard. Not a strike.

Sit down.

Oh well. I'm just telling you how fans see it. You'll never see it from our side, and we'll probably never see it from yours. We'll always see it as a bunch of guys complaining about getting an absurd amount of money to have the job we all wish we did.

And of course the owners are making money, but that's what business owners are supposed to do. They made a good investment and are paying more than fair wages. I always hear players talk about how it's just business when it comes time to sign a new contract, but when the owners treat the team as a business owner would, they're the bad guy?

The union has decertified. Players can cross whenever they want.

I thought that's why they de-certified, so the owners couldn't lock them out.

Cross to what dumbass? All NFL activity has ceased players aren't allowed in team facilities.

Players aren't represented by the union now. If Joe Blow Punter wants to go ahead and sign a deal with a team, nothing is stopping him.
