link?

And even if he did indeed say that, that is a load of shite and he is just trying to cover up his inability to score when it's not garbage time.

There is no coach in the world who's strategy is to give up such a big insurmountable lead, their opponent puts in the their second string for so long they lose. This isn't soccer. You can put your starters back in.

Their strategy is to wear you out yes. But there is a difference between being tired, and pulling your starters in a blowout.

Oregon moved the ball? Not really. Here are their drive charts:

ORE 1st O13 15:00 Kickoff O06 13:49 Punt 5--7 1:11
ORE 1st O35 11:08 Kickoff O36 10:23 Punt 3-1 0:45
ORE 1st O50 08:09 Punt L11 03:55 *FIELD GOAL 12-39 4:14
ORE 1st L20 01:12 Fumble L13 00:42 *FIELD GOAL 4-7 0:30

ORE 2nd O07 00:00 Punt O03 14:43 Fumble 0--4 0:00
ORE 2nd O12 14:43 Kickoff O11 13:54 Interception 2--1 0:49
ORE 2nd O21 12:57 Punt L00 05:16 *TOUCHDOWN 19-79 7:41
ORE 2nd O26 00:40 Kickoff O33 00:00 End of half 2-7 0:40

ORE 3rd O23 12:04 Punt O20 10:41 Punt 3--3 1:23
ORE 3rd O06 09:00 Punt O24 08:10 Fumble 3-18 0:50
ORE 3rd O38 06:23 Kickoff O41 06:15 Fumble 0-3 0:08
ORE 3rd O10 02:57 Kickoff O10 02:32 Punt 3-0 0:25

ORE 4th O32 14:01 Kickoff L00 09:14 *TOUCHDOWN 13-68 4:47
ORE 4th O36 06:28 Punt O41 05:48 Downs 4-5 0:40
ORE 4th O30 02:46 Kickoff L00 00:13 *TOUCHDOWN 11-70 2:33

They had an impressive 12 play drive in the 1st quarter and then a great, great drive in the 2nd that took 19 plays and 79 yards. Other than that, UO's offense was pretty damn ineffective until the 2nd and 3rd team defense closed things out in the fourth quarter.

Oregon had 9 of 12 drives go for less than 10 yards, and one of those drives only went for 18 yards and a turnover. They were most decidedly not moving the ball up and down the field.

I don't know how this thread devolved into an Oregon discussion, but when you look at all the data people have thrown up here, a clear pattern emerges....

Give a team a few weeks to prepare, and Oregon can be stopped. Oregon vs. LSU, Auburn, Boise, Ohio State; all games that were the first or last of the year.

Similar to Georgia Tech. Not hard to beat the yellow jackets if you have time to prepare, but when a team goes from playing against a Pro-style O to playing against an option team the next week, it is much more difficult to win.
