Ben Roethlisberger said he assumes he’ll be good to go for the Patriots game. He was ready to play as soon as Mike Tomlin gave him the go. Tomlin said Roethlisberger probably could have gone in a few series earlier but flow of the game prevented that.

Maybe they will let him go after the Patriots drop 50 in Heinz Field next week.

If he goes then Ben needs to as well

Ben and his ego/shity play has cost the Steelers big in crunch time this year.

I agree.

Pittsburgh has been due for down years for a while now. Its coming. Whether its 1 or 2 years before that happens is the question.

I’d be completely fine with this if Ben didn’t have such a big dead cap hit. Not really sure how much they could trade him for since he’s been walking the retirement line for what seems like a decade.

Mike Tomlin has 0 losing seasons in the NFL

You guys are fricking stupid

The only other coach in league history to coach 10+ seasons and never finish below .500 was John Madden (SB era)

How silly is that?

That go ahead touchdown was pure luck. Should have been intercepted.

You'd think he would learn not to throw a bullet into traffic from the 1-yard line, seeing as how it lost the Broncos game two weeks ago.

He's a real POS.

I'd rather drop Roethlisbeger than Tomlin. I don't think Ben is consistent enough to win a Super Bowl any more. It's just a string of being ok, but at best getting beat by the Pats.

Tomlin is a good coach. Ben's time is up. It's time for some rebuilding. There are major deficiencies that have been masked by skill positions on offense for a while.

His defense just blew a 23-7 halftime lead last week.

And his backup QB hasn't played any significant snaps in the NFL.

This thread has done nothing to convince me that Tomlin has to go just because McCarthy was fired

One does seem irrelevant to the other

Hard to say. Dan wouldn't fire him, but we don't know how Art II operates. They're in danger of a 5 game losing streak that takes them from a bye to missing the playoffs.

Here's my defense of Tomlin.

The D had major holes that the front office hasn't addressed. The secondary has been a dumpster fire for years. Shazier masked a lot of that, but he almost got paralyzed in a freak accident.

None of that is on Tomlin, IMO.

Ben has regressed big time. He has had at least one very inexplicable INT per game in this slide.

Bell's holdout was a huge distraction. Those offensive issues aren't really something in Tomlin's control, either.

Tomlin isn't perfect, but he delivers a lot of consistent W's. A lot of the issues with the Steelers are beyond his control. People get sucked in by the skill position talent and lose sight of that.

Most pertinently, who's out there who is an upgrade? People talk like McCarthy is a commodity, and that should say a lot. Tomlin has produced much more consistent results than McCarthy.

I agree with your analysis. I just don't know whether Art II will.
