Why is Schilling an a-hole? Because of his politics?
No, he's just an a-hole.

First off, I do not discuss politics on social media. But I will offer the opinion that I don't care about Schilling's politics, he's a no-brainer Hall of Famer and should be in.
The problem with Schilling, IMO, whether it puts him in A-hole territory or not, is that he seems to have not learned one of the cardinal lessons of adulthood: There are times and places where even if you have the right to speak (although people misunderstand the concept of freedom of speech in the Constitution, it simply means the federal government of the U.S. can't put you in jail for what you say, it doesn't mean there won't be other consequences), you really shouldn't if it's extraneous to the matter at hand.
The induction ceremony at Cooperstown is one of those places where it all should be about baseball, mic drop, and I think there's a fear Schilling will go off and share whatever's going through his brain.

Well, the HoF told Ted Williams not to talk about black players from the Negro Leagues getting into the Hall, but he did, which was a good and right thing to do.

CC's post-career activities should have zero to do with getting into the Hall, and that goes for every other player.

Agreed.
Williams is my favorite ball player who ever lived.

Excellent for my boy Billy. He was a neighbor of mine in Jackson Ms. during his early minor league days. I took him fishing and hunting when I was at my place there. Great kid. Very deserving…

Fun fact :
Billy Wagner was originally right-handed, but after breaking his arm at a young age he taught himself to throw lefty.
