The NBA has created a new award in honor of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the league's all-time leading scorer and a noted civil rights activist, that will recognize a player who best embodies his striving for social justice and racial equality, the league announced Thursday.

The winner of the inaugural Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion award will be announced during the playoffs and will receive $100,000 from the league to donate to an organization of his choosing. Four additional finalists will receive $25,000.

"shite, the Lakers suck and Lebron might not make the finals this year. Better pull a new award out of our asses so that he can still be the center of attention"

Anyone who is associated with the Nation of Islam or Louis Farrakhan should be shunned and ostracized no less than someone associated with the KKK.

They're both RACIST hate organizations.

Instead, the national press heaps praise on SCUM like Jabbar and Ali.

F*ck both those filthy f*cking IGNORANT SCUMBAGS.

Is this the part where you start waving the confederate flag and shouting the south will rise again?

I hate to break it to you but you're not getting a rematch.

I know, right? Just last week, 13 black people made me apologize to them for being white. I was so humiliated.

Kareem isn't associated with the NOI/ Farrakhan. Most ( Black) Muslims in this country aren't members of the NOI.

It’d be well deserved. I could see Russell Westbrook being a finalist with his Tulsa Race Riot documentary.

Nba = Make up victimhood then make up award to show you’re fighting that victimhood.

Why don't you drive (obeying the speed limit) the full length of Claiborne Ave. at midnight with your doors unlocked and your windows rolled down -- especially the stretch with the overpass that Biden wants to tear down.

Then you can see what 13 black people will make you do for being white.

Kareem has said the best player he ever played against is Larry Bird.

And that's saying a lot.

Considering how long Kareem played.

I don't think Kareem is a "hate whitey" guy as you call it. He's more Jim Brown and less Le-clicks. Kareem didn't create this award...the NBA did.

Kareem like Jim Brown isn't like LeBron for likes.

He's always looked at the communities and not spray painted fences.

“I hope it gives all players in the league an incentive to see what they can do in their communities to make their communities a better place."

Remember that time LeBron faked a hate crime against himself in Brentwood
