I dunno, I have no recolection of the SEC back then.
But it sounded like you were comparing Cooper to Randle, and the two NFL RBs to Henry and Yeldon and then Sims to LSU's mediocre.
Bama's defense definitely isn't as good as 2011 LSU.

LSU's defense that year had 8 NFL starters.

I agree. I was talking more offensively.

I wasn't. But you are right. Their offense was better than ours.
Our defense was miles better than theirs. Legitimately.

That shows how great the LSU running game was in 2011. Everybody knew what was coming and still could not stop it....

Has anyone mentioned how soft Oregon is yet?

Yep. Every team has their weaknesses. We struggle against the best team in the country every year.
You got crushed. Face it. Oregon was good this year and probably would have beaten LSU. Congrats!
You still got waxed by OSU and trying to mask that behind saying no one else could have done any better is pathetic and laughable.
And LSU crushed Oregon with no passing game. Soooo...

Athletically, LSU 2011 is probably better than tOSU this year.
No probably about it.

Urban is a way better offensive coach and Jones is way more problematic for a defense
Completely agree.

For those questioning the Ducks, tOSU goes in dry on anybody in CFB last night
And it's also pretty ridiculous considering how many turnovers OSU had, at least 3 I recall completely unforced.
quote:They're a 2 loss team, there's probably 3-5 teams every year as good as Oregon was this year.
We just happened to the be fall team and it fits the narrative too well. It overshadows how good that team really is.
I don't even consider myself a good gambler or guessing spreads, hell I don't even have money online to bet OSU on the ML on this one, but I absolutely called OSU by at least 7 specifically because of the run game and run defense.
This Oregon team, the players may change, but the results are the same, exactly the same over the years. Any time Oregon plays a team with a good, physical run game and a team that can stop the run, they lose. LSU, Auburn, Oregon, Ohio State, Stanford multiple times. At some point, we're gonna learn that even when Herbstreit tries to preach to us how this team is a phyical team, they're just not.

LSU's defense in 2011 was off the hook. That was the best secondary I've ever seen. I think Bosa was better than Montomery or Mingo though. I think what really surprised me was the closing speed of tOSU second level. I could see Lee's speed coming but was not expecting Porter and the other OLB to be as quick as they were.
tOSU's secondary is very physical as well. I think with some depth that tOSU can match LSU next year with a lot scarier offense.

quote:Wait, what? Oregon beat 7 top 10 teams this season?
We went in dry on 3/4 teams in the top 10

That team had the best combo of athleticism, speed and coaching I've seen

There was some kind of meme about the kid and his lack of emotion. The name was eluding me until someone mentioned that it was Randal. Focus on the big idea and not the stupid details.

We beat 3 of 4 top 10 teams. Michigan State, UCLA and Florida State.

I mean, probably not.
I was actually impressed with Oregon walking out of the stadium in 2011.
We knew we were really good, and it was a game in the 3rd quarter. That team was the best Oregon team, IMO. Running game, overall, seemed better. With James and whoever the backup was who was suspended for our game with y'all.

Oregon had the greatest luck of getting balls I've ever seen in that game. Don't forget the RB who fumbled on the first Drive and it bounced right back into his hands as well.

This is kinda surprising to me this year though. For the first time in their run of success, the RBs they use are power backs. I didn't notice them using any scat backs this time. You would think that they would be better prepared for a power run game in practice.
