How would Boston have fared the last few years in the West?

They have been a great team but they always kinda seem like they shouldn't win as much as they do as far as reaching the finals.....Is this mainly because of the eastern conference? They did beat Dallas rather easily last year but meh.... Or maybe the Knicks are just elite.......OKC
