Isn't that OP's original question?

Those Celtics teams would have won a bunch of titles without Russell. Not 11, but at least 3 or 4

Russell BARELY beat Chamberlaine. there were mighty tussles at the rim with the game on the line.

no Russell, Warriors win all those series.
Russell and Cousy were winning before Chamberlain graduated high school though.

1958 St Louis Hawks with Bob Petit and Cliff Hagan won one during Russell era.

(Hagan multi year all star, (2nd best player on a mighty Kentucky team. )

Well since Gronk isn't the best player on the Patriots, it doesn't really fit the OP's question, does it?

Well that's your opinion. I don't see any other elite Patriots players on the cover of the NFL's #1 game

I disagree. 93 was the year the Suns won 60 and despite losing in 6 gave Chicago everything they could handle. They would not be favorites without MJ over that very same team

Rodriguez left the Mariners in 2000. In 2001 the Mariners set the all-time wins record with 116 wins, then proceed

This is what I was thinking. The Mariners lost a hall of fame player in 1998, 1999, and 2000. After each departure they finished the following season better than the season before. 2001 was the only version that was best in the league though

That's such an empty statement. Warriors would have won ALL of them. How come the Warriors with Wilt lost in the playoffs to teams that were nowhere near as good on paper as the Celts minus Russell?

Ohio State lost a top five Heisman vote getter at QB in 2014 and won a national title.

You could argue that gronk is the best player on the team but he isn't at the most important position. Larry Allen was probably the best player on a couple of the cowboys teams but he played offensive guard.

Tee wasn't a no-name, but this is still a great example. They lost a lot of players besides Peyton as well. And Jamal Lewis went out for the season early with a torn ACL.

I think even if the Warriors lost KD or Steph, they would be favorites to win it all. I
No way they'd be the favorites. They aren't any more favored than LeDouche's team right now. I'd probably give Cleveland the advantage now. Warriors lack interior defense.
