re: How is this CFP any better than the BCS??

To answer your question directly, this committee probably knows their shite way better than the Coaches' and Harris polls did, and they are also individually subject to much more scrutiny.
That said, the BCS placed significant weight on unbiased, comprehensive math. Be-all, end-all? No, but nothing anyone says will convince me that democracy is a better way to decide these things than is a mathematical formula or series thereof.

I think the BCS system and then take the top 4 teams for a playoff would have been ideal.
It's infuriating that they didn't just do this.

Make the power 5 conferences ALL have championship games, take the winners of those, 3 at large or Wild Card teams and be done. Better than the crap we have right now.

This. The BCS was ridiculously bad.

It still looks like the earlier you lose, the better off you are. It's like they forget about the old losses

The criteria that went into the diffenent computer pills was subjective....but it was defined before the season and applied equally.
The committee is a freaking joke.

Scheduling of the current Top 4:
#1 Clemson: Beat #4 Notre Dame, Beat #16 Florida State, May Face #23 North Carolina
#2 Alabama: Beat #9 LSU, Beat #25 Wisconsin, Will Play #17 Miss. St., May Face #11 Florida
#3 Ohio State: Will Play #13 Michigan State, Will Play #14 Michigan, May Play #5 Iowa
#4 Notre Dame: Loss to #1 Clemson, Beat #20 Navy, Beat #22 Temple, Will Play #7 Stanford
Total Games Played Against the Top 25: 11 (14 possible)
Total Games Played vs Non-Power 5 Conferences: 11 (Clemson - 2, Alabama - 3, Ohio State - 3, Notre Dame - 3)
I'm all for giving cupcake schools their funding, but when the number of games vs Top 25 schools is so close to the number of cupcakes, you have to wonder.

It's better in that four teams have a legitimate shot at winning.
Unless you're talking the way the teams are decided. That would be a separate issue which I could agree with, though I'm not opposed to what we have now.

LSU fans bitching because they shite the bed against Bama...again. 2 SEC teams aren't getting in. If it ends up Bama vs Florida in Atlanta the winner will get in and loser will be bumped.

Definitely not bitching. Truly wondering after the commentators comment about not putting 2 teams from the same conference to basically "share the wealth" being stupid ... even if the 2 teams are 2 of the 4 most deserving.
Also, isn't there the possibility of ie a player who was out due to injury so they lost but MAY have won and comes back later in the season and therefore get the benefit of the doubt?? Their lost can be "excused"? How does that fly?
I just think that there's the huge possibility of bias even though they're supposed to be professionals. It's human nature.
Again so NOT griping about LSUs ranking.

This should not matter one bit. Football is a team sport. Injuries happen and it doesn't change what a team accomplished before or can accomplish going forward. Look at Ohio State last year or the QB at Baylor stepping in for a great performance last week.

Oh I know but I seem to recall there being "talk" about that being able to be used by the committee when making the rankings. I could be wrong.
Posted on 11/10/15 at 8:51 pm to tiger91
The douche that made that comment isn't on the committee.
The guy who IS on the committee clearly said that ND was where they are in the rankings partly due to what they've done all while having injuries to important position players.
This IS you upset that LSU shite the bed, once again. Be honest with yourself.

You definitely aren't wrong. I've heard that talk before as well. All it should come down to is A) Who you beat B) How you beat them and C) Who you lost to. The rest is just bullshite talking points for "analysts"

I just found out tonight that 2 committee members are assigned to each conference.
quote:
@BryanDFischer: Worth noting that Condoleezza Rice and Bobby Johnson are the two committee members assigned to the Big 12.
quote:This makes no goddamn sense to me.
@BryanDFischer: Tom Osborne and Condoleezza Rice are assigned to the American. Four AAC teams in the top 25.
