Myself and my brother(17 years old at the time) were in Palm Springs, CA at my dad's house throwing football and didn’t even notice the earthquake. We walk into the house and dad says "Did you feel that?" Two boys from southern Louisiana reply "Feel What?" Dad says, "THE EARTHQUAKE!"

Our reply"NOPE!"

Everyone in our family in Louisiana calls my dad to find out if we were OK. Myself and my brother's story was we couldn't believe how much the ground was shaking. TRUE STORY

Was maybe 10 at the time but remember it being surreal. The players all on the field, some with their families just staring up and around the ballpark. Also part of the bridge falling in on itself is something I can still see clearly in my mind after all these years. Wild stuff to see on live tv.

First off, how often do sizable earthquakes happen in the US? They are few and far between. How often do they happen in a place like Alaska versus a place with high population. The fact that the Loma Prieta quake happened in a densely populated area is notable, but to happen during a World Series played by two teams from that area is incredible.

The 1990 Reds offense was better than the ‘88 Dodgers, who were basically Kirk Gibson and nothing else. Gibson only had 1 AB in the series. But Hershiser pitched twice and they got just enough offense otherwise to win that series.

As for the earthquake in ‘89, Al Michaels and Ted Koppel were brilliant on ABC’s earthquake coverage. Michaels had lived in SF when he was the Giants lead announcer in the mid-70s so he knew the geography of the area very well. But I’ve also read he knows the geography of pretty much every major city because he always took the time to learn about it when he visited a place.
