How come Shaun Alexander doesn’t get mentioned with great 2000’s era RB’s?

I feel like Marshall Faulk, Terrell Davis, LaDanian Tomlinson, Clinton Portis and Eddie George get more appreciation than Shaun. He was MVP in 2005 and won 2 rushing titles, along with 3 Pro Bowls. Was it largely due to playing in Seattle?

How so? Eddie got a lot of attention. Heck, he almost scored a TD to win a super bowl.

Terrell Davis had a short career due to injury. I feel like he does not belong in the HOF.

He was productive over long period of time but I don’t consider him in any true elite conversation.

I think it's because the dominant portion career seemed pretty short. He took over as the dominant back in the league but it seemed to only last 3-4 seasons and then he completely disappeared.

He played during the era when the NFL was transitioning to an almost exclusively pass centric style and the idea of having a big stud RB was no longer the centerpiece of many offenses.

He got paid, then fell off. People don't like that in the best of the decade type discussions. SA did have a great 4 year run

When he lost it, he lost it really fast.

A 4 year run is a year shy of half a decade. He should be in that conversation.

Edgerrin got plenty of exposure playing with Peyton.

Yeah, then he retired and was never mentioned or seen again. It's like he backtalked Marvin and got put in the vacants.

100 career rushing TDs is impressive, five 1,000 yard seasons not so much. Frank Gore has nine 1,000 yard seasons.

I felt Priest Holmes was good for fantasy football owners the year he scored over 30 TD’s. I wouldn’t say he was underrated or overrated, kinda somewhere in the middle.

Frank Gore has also been in the league for 13 years. Shaun Alexander was only in the NFL for seven years. Five 1,000-yard seasons in seven years ain't too shabby.

Priest Holmes is a good analogy because both were overshadowed by Tomlinson, in part because they couldn't stay healthy like he did.

Alexander went from dominant to sucking more suddenly than just about any RB I can remember

He would be considered top three of the 2000's had his single season TD record not been broken the next season by Tomlinson.

That 2005 season was fun to watch. Alexander carried Seattle to the Super Bowl but was never the same after. He ran so smooth for as big as he was.

Is Curtis Martin included in here? Where is he typically placed in the hierarchy?
