I dunno. I think Hopkins has enough in-ring cred built up that I take him at face value. He's a total assclown outside the ring, but I don't think he'd pull any funny business in a fight like this.

He's pretty good at acting too though....just like when he faked being hurt against Calzaghe and took 5 minutes off to get some rest. Well, maybe not 5 minutes but you get the point.

at the same time, bhop fights shady at times so he shouldn't complain about dawson throwing him off when he jumped on his back.

I'm torn on this. I've always liked B-Hop, but I personally feel like he could continue. You never know, he could have been injured. Only time will tell

The point of the post was that Hopkins likes to put on his Academy Award nominated performances from time to time....like when he faked the injury against Calzaghe to get some extra rest. That's why I think he faked being pushed against Dawson. Not necessarily to get more rest that early in the fight....but to make it look like he was fouled.

Yeah, he's cagey with those types of tactics but I can't imagine him flopping and taking a loss to actually throw a fight or get out of a fight where he thinks he's overmatched. At worst, he might've tried to oversell a foul by falling and seriously jammed his shoulder in the process.

Good. I'm going to start calling him B-Flop

He was thrown down and landed on his elbow...when you land on your elbow your shoulder pops out!

This will be overturned!!! No Contest. Rematch.

Dawson is the one that was a bitch that threw Hopkins to the ground.

no way he faked being pushed. he really got thrown to the ground by dawson. no faking. he said he was ready to go. he says ref called it even though he said he was good to go.

I think exaggerated is the better word to use regarding the fall imo. Either way, a rematch is happening.

come on, i like hopkins but we both know he fights dirty (a seasoned vet). hopkins did jump on his back and dawson just threw him off. seems like the ref was the bad guy.

lsuphilly said it will be reviewed and called a no contest. i think this may be the result. so def a rematch will happen with bhop still holding the belt.

Refs are more paranoid than ever in protecting fighters. That's their main responsibility. It's kinda like the way the NFL is protecting QBs these days. It's annoying most of the time, but it's important for the small percentage of the time that it protects the lives and livelihoods of both the fighters and the sport.
