Holy shite

YES, cheating on your wife and fraudulently using university money is worse than not reporting second hand allegations of domestic abuse by someone else.

Actually one is an ethical/moral issue but the other is a enabling a dangerous situation. Abuse leads to serious injury or murder in many cases.

10 years ago this is a non-issue. Let's be honest, not reporting second hand allegations of abuse by a co-worker being some unforgivable sin is very 2018.

Which means it will be grounds for being scrubbed from the record books in 2028. This kind of thing isn't going away anytime soon.

One involves you ACTUALLY COMMITTING an immoral act and the other involves not talking about the immoral act of another.

The police responded multiple times and never arrested the man. Urban Meyer is not culpable for any abuse that occurred. Petrino PERSONALLY frickED A MISTRESS, GAVE HER A JOB A DEFRAUDED A PUBLIC UNIVERSITY.

Completely disagree. When Zach Smith puts a bullet in his ex wife and pulls the trigger on himself too, Urban and Shelley Meyer would disagree too.

Urban presumably had other avenues that most of us don't have. It can easily be argued he enabled Zach Smith if it's proven he knew and didn't report it to the AD.

Using this logic, you are equating everyone who has ever heard of abuse allegations and not reported them to people who commit fraud and cheat on their wives.

That is both dangerous and insane

O had a restraining order for domestic violence. Still a coach. I think Urban can find a job.

First, you need to calm down. Drop a few in your jizz jar and relax. They are both morally bankrupt people, no doubt. I don’t defend either of them, but my point is that their pasts aren’t as far apart as you are making them out to be.

So, using your logic, Petrino’s cheating is worse than JoPa not openly reporting Sandusky?

This is so dumb - he didn’t beat anybody.

I’d hire him in a second if I were AD at a big time program

This isnt a Briles situation. He will 100% get a job again. Hell, he may not even get fired in the first place

It's actually very similar to the Briles situation. Ignorance to Title IX is no excuse assuming Urban knew about the allegations. If he spoke to Smith himself and nothing came of it, which is what the texts insinuated, he's really fricked.

I know we like to think about sports where winning solves everything, but you get to the point where the social blowback can tip the scales. Time heals all and Urban may be rehired down the road - again, assuming he's fired - but it's a more serious problem than many seem to believe if he knew and did nothing.

This is a shitty deal no doubt . As much as I like Urban going down in no way do I believe he would risk his position to save this dudes job. He just mis lead himself thinking it would all play out.

Huh? No.

I'm saying that Title IX actually affords someone like Urban the opportunity to fix problems like this. It's got its faults, but this isn't one of them. Hell, it's required that he report it if he has a reasonable belief it MAY have happened. He's not asked to be the judge and jury, he's only asked to pass it along. He couldn't even do that.

And your chancellor and Board of Regents would weigh that decision heavily. You do not want to be staring down the barrel of the Inspector General for the Department of Education.

Ohio State actually has 3 pending OIG investigations that are currently active under Title IX.

When you're as good as he Is, you sit out for like a year and then people are comfortable hiring you again as long as you apologize in front of a camera and microphone, because second chances or some shite.
