So how many rants on here have been about ESPN and not a player?
Damn would some smart LSU grad go and start a new All sports channel?

I agree with Unbiased Bama Fan and then throw in the WR's like Carter and Brown and you have at the very least 10 guys that most will agree are better than Ward.

If Carter had put up the same #'s with The Steelers that he did with Philly/Minn. he would have been in years ago.

Hines Ward is a lock for the hall of fame. What the hell is the debate here? 6 seasons over 1,000 yards and he was the super bowl MVP. That's just for starters.

The hall of fame should be reserved for the very best players at their positions. Ward was a very good player but never was he considered among the best WR's in the game. Not a hall of famer IMHO.

If that is what we are going by, than the following players need to be put in asap:
Randy Moss (had 6 straight to start his career and 10 overall)
Terrell Owens (5 straight and 9 overall)
Isaac Bruce (4 straight and 8 overall)
Tim Brown (9 straight and 9 overall, 6 of which came in his 30s)
Marvin Harrison (8 straight and 8 overall)
Chris Carter (8 straight and 8 overall, 6 of which came in his 30s)
Henry Ellard (4 straight and 7 overall).
Torry Holt (8 straight and 8 overall, with 6 straight being over 1,300 yards).
Jimmy Smith (7 straight and 9 overall and this was with an expansion team).
Derrick Mason (5 straight and 8 overall).
Reggie Wayne (8 straight and 8 overall).
Rod Smith (6 straight and 8 overall).
Chad Ochocinco (6 straight and 7 overall).
Steve Smith (4 straight and 6 overall).

Was there even a year he was the best receiver in the league?
Nope. He had a good little run for a while when he was a top 10 guy, but he has never been the top guy, a top 3 guy, and you'd be hard pressed to find a year when you can definitively say that he was a top 5 guy.

Isn't Lynn Swann a HOFer? He wasn't an all time great and Ward's numbers are considerably better.

As soon as Shoeless Joe Jackson gets in

Neither Swann nor Namath should be in the HOF but they are in because of where they played and because the media loved them.
I hate when writers get to vote on who joins Hall of Fame. Few if any of them ever played the sport that they write about outside of the youth level and they almost always have some sort of agenda or axe to grind.

I was just about to post that Swann is apparently the Namath of WRs

Nice
How do you feel about Bill Walton being in the Hall? Ticks me off that he was never an elite NBA player and is in, but Grant Hill has little to chance of making it even though he's been a damn effective player into his late 30s.

All this makes me think how much I actually HATE HOF talk.
The blow hard writers/media make this is a big deal.
