if he has the same yards, more tds, less ints, and a higher completion % there is no way a sane human being can say that is worse.
People that take great pride in their analyses and rankings and who are very well respected in the NFL community think that he has been worse this season.

I do respect those guys, but I am going to have to respectfully disagree. I cant say someone who improved in the 4 main categories is having a worse year

PFF grades for QB are pretty weird. I wouldn't use that as a metric of how good a QB is. I think Brees had some 65% 300 yard, 3 TD game and yet he got a negative grade. It was weird.

As for bad OL, Rodgers' knows a thing about bad OL's as well.

2014: 15 sacks
2013: 21 sacks (9 games, 1 sack knocked him out of a game)
2012: 51 sacks

Wilson's
2014: 11 sacks
2013: 44 sacks
2012: 33 sacks

I Concede everyone

Russell Wilson = Brad Johnson

His arm strength is comparable to that of ken Dorsey

Yep, they try to normalize it for the team around you. So they don't punish the QB for a dropped pass or McCoy getting to Brees in under 2 seconds (happened 3x last game)

Brees received a -1.5 for the Tampa Bay game where he had 2 tds, 3 Ints and completed 61.4% of his passes

Wilson received a -1.7 for the Green Bay game where he completed 68% of his passes with 2 Tds and 0 Ints

They also give you negative marks for near picks, bad decisions, throwing inaccurate balls (even if they are caught), contributing to a sack, etc. Which are lost stats.

Which is basically what I said with the dropped passes. Also, this:

quote:

rees received a -1.5 for the Tampa Bay game where he had 2 tds, 3 Ints and completed 61.4% of his passes

Wilson received a -1.7 for the Green Bay game where he completed 68% of his passes with 2 Tds and 0 Ints

Wilson's GB game was easily better than Brees' TB game. They look at it on a play by play basis rather than an overall performance.

So taking a sack might result in a negative grade for a play, but it is the smarter thing to do sometimes. Brees may get a + grade for getting rid of the ball under pressure, but it may also lead to a pick 6 down the road

No doubt, you just have to take the time to understand their grading system and realize that it is a tool, not the end all

Colin has a stronger arm than Wilson, but I wouldn't say it is better. Wilson had the highest deep ball accuracy % in the NFL last year despite having the highest throw %. So Kap can throw it further, but Wilson can put that ball 50 yards downfield on the spot.

Why do I hear a slurping sound coming from this post?

Yeh i know they are smart guys but their is a flaw in your system when that happens. No big deal, everything like that has hiccups

ok, so without getting mad or telling me the pff ranking, in your own opinion, do you think WIlson has been worse then he was last year. And if so, why?

I honestly don't like Wilson. I think he comes across completely fake and has something socially wrong with him.

He just seems off as a person. I'm not sure what it is, but he gives me the fricking creeps.

That doesn't mean that I can't see how good of a player he is.

Funny how Russell Wilson brings this many pages when mentioned. Amazing how many people are in love with him. Sad really. You would swear he's breaking records. But, he isn't really doing anything great. Just a fact.

I agree. His interviews are weird.
