I want to punch a wall every time I lose an auction by 50 cents at the last second. It's happened so many times.
I miss the 10%-12% off promo offers. It's reduced to 5% for me now. And now my state requires tax now for every purchase. Greedy bastards.

Well I used to collect when I was a kid. Then I got the itch again with all of this going on, so I texted one of my buddies who is big into it and asked him where to start 
He basically said to either focus on favorite players/teams because there are way too many options.
I'm a Braves and Saints fan so I've been collecting some of their players.
It's a really good time to collect the Braves, but it can get expensive hunting for Acuna and Albies cards, especially the rookie relics and autos. I've snagged some game mint Chipper, Smoltz and Glavine rookies along with a few current guys. I'm having fun with it though but I'm definitely spending way too much time and money

Nope, lost that to bot snipe.
I've gotten much better with my bidding over the past few days. I usually try and bid to be the highest bidder, then at the last second I raise my max bid to the price I'm willing to pay in case someone else tries to snipe me

Tried to win a lawrence mojo and fulton hyper autos, but people are now paying more for those than Chaisson mojo or JJetta hyper

It’s a bad time to buy with the draft just happening. Sports cards are a fickle market.
I think case and box breaks are the way to go. There’s not much out there at the stores. Sure, you can get a retail box of Leaf for $20 and be doing great to pull a signed card of someone in the SEC.
If you are trying for LSU players - which I am trying to do - just be patient. More and more brands will release cards and the prices should drop a little bit.
If you want an example, just look at past LSU draft picks. You can get a Devin White signed card for cheap.
Burrow will retain value for quite some time, and obviously have a higher floor than anybody else in this class.

Yeah I think it's generally agreed these cards will decrease in value once the true rookie cards come out.

I just ordered last years prizm draft picks Devin White and Greedy mojo autos. There's only 1 Moreau mojo auto on eBay right now, but it has no shot at a PSA 10.

That's sweet. If it's in really good shape, look in to getting it graded.

Just nabbed a Carolina blue /30 Fulton auto. Paid significantly less than the Mojo's I've been bidding on haha

I paid way too much for 2 Burrow Hyper Prizms x/75. Big Burrow believer and think he’ll be an Andrew Luck type contributor for the Bengals. Single handily will change their franchise. Question will be do they help him out to get past the Wild Card/Divisional Rounds.

unlike you though I'm just trying for one SP auto of each player I'm going to wait on most outside of Burrow because I think you're now getting the NFL fans wanting the autos of their draft picks, along with the college team fans

Compared to TCGs, each card is specifically numbered in a set, making collecting, figuring out, and finding cards so much easier. I find this much more difficult with sports cards.
Trying to figure out how rare each color prizm is hard to find too. I want some of the Pels rookies prizms and autos, but there are just so many and I'm just completely ignorant on them
I had the same feeling when I got back into it and what I found most helpful was joining different card collecting groups on Facebook. I learned a lot about how the industry had changed. I enjoy it. My wife doesn't understand it, but that's the only drawback. Lol
