Have you watched Oregon and Ohio State since that game? If you have you would realize that since then Oregon has lost and looked like crap against bad teams and OSU has started to look really good.

Would you pick Oregon over OSU today?

I certainly wouldn't.

And therein lies the problem.

Why are we talking hypotheticals when we have actuals we have seen on the field?

Its a fricking 11-12 game season before the bowls and people are acting like its March Madness..."who's hot now?"

This isn't March and Oregon's victory over Ohio State wasn't back in last October. It was 4 weeks ago! Good lord. What have you done for my subjective biased eye-test lately. Victories barely last two weeks...and then are dismissed... Oh, that team that lost has matured...look at them against teams not named Oregon! When they don't play Oregon, they're WAY better than Oregon.

But that's only if it's Ohio State vs a lesser brand.

If it was say USC and Wisconsin the script would be flipped.

Oregon lost to an actual lesser brand...and was struggling vs Cal.

OK and? They beat tOSU on their home field while being forced to play at a ridiculous kickoff time (9am PST) for TV. I don't really care that they lost at Stanford in OT when they won in Columbus.

Oregon's loss was also shady AF. Everyone agrees. Otherwise they would've dropped more. But if 1-loss teams have the same records and one lost head to head...call me logical old school crazy but if Oregon drops after 1-loss, so should Ohio State behind Oregon. You don't just automatically move up because Ohio State beat Tulsa.

Otherwise rankings are illogical Jenga. So tired of games not mattering on the field. Devalues these big OCC match ups and that's why we have a dearth of them. If the win isn't going to matter and the loss will barely hurt, Shite just schedule 12 Tulsas.

As an Oregon fan I don’t care about being ranked behind OSU. We look like dogshit and this is the worst run of injuries I’ve seen us take.

If Oregon pulls their shite together and somehow runs the table, let’s have that argument then. I think this will all been moot by then.

Nice analysis

Oregon's last 2 games are a loss to Stanford and a comeback win over Cal.

OSU has won like 135-20 or some crazy stuff like that against teams better than Stanford and Cal. Sorry for bringing facts to an OSU hatefest

All I can say is thank god Kerry Coombs isn't the DC anymore. At least something good came out of that embarrassment of a defensive performance.

I don't see how OSU should be ranked ahead of Oregon right now... OSU looks way better but they haven't beaten anybody.

I still agree. However, i think wins over PSU, MSU and Michigan would easily allow for OSU to be taken over Oregon. If Oregon starts blowing teams out left and right, and goes 12-1 over OSU, they should go over OSU. I just don't think it will happen with Oregon; they look lost and threw everything into the OSU game

Head to head is way down the list of things that rankings look at. One weeks doesn’t define a team

So, If Team A beats Team B in the National Championship game, you think Team B is the national champion if you perceive them to be better?

After all, head to head is way down on the list and one week does not define a team.

Another arbitrary, nebulous, unprovable statement beyond expectations not being met by OSU...so Oregon took it more seriously?

Oregon won on the road in a hostile environment without their best player and a bunch of others out.

If that's "throwing everything into the OSU game" whatever that means? Then they suck at it.

Can we STOP trying to explain or rationalize away loses...its all just subjective imagination and preseason expectations not being met...so the the brain says..."something must be amiss!"

That's why the only thing that matters is what happened on the field. That's the ONLY objective measurement.

If Oregon loses another game, fine put OSU ahead of them. But right now? It makes zero sense.

I have hate for voters and do overs and mulligans and dismissing what happens on the field because it didn't match their expectations.

I have hate for illogical voting and too many CFB fans seem okay with the idiocy the past 10 years....all for ratings, though..right? AP was once independent, now they're just a branch of ESPN...like the Coaches Poll has been the last 20 years. I'm shocked more people aren't puzzled by the rankings; I'm not shocked talking heads at ESPN haven't raised an eyebrow.

like Oregon but Clemson, Bama, Oklahoma, Ohio State barely drop at all after a loss

It still cracks me up that many still can't accept that CFB has different sets of rules for some programs. Once you realize that and accept it, life as a CFB fan is much easier.
