Has any MLB team ever won 41 games before June 1st?

The Braves have a chance to make MLB history today. Based on my research, the 2026 Braves are just the fifth team ever to reach 40 wins before June 1, but no team has ever reached 41 before June. Even more impressive, three of the previous four teams that hit 40 wins before June 1 went on to win the World Series that same year.

1902 Pittsburgh Pirates: Hit 41 wins on May 31 (41-9).

1984 Detroit Tigers: Started the year 35-5 and had 41 wins before June (41-5)

Also, it’s kind of a pointless stat unless all teams play the same number of games before June

Winning % is probably a better metric IMO

I'm sure it's happened a few times. They're at .678, I seem to recall a few teams with winning percentages between there and .700

Probably the $billion Dodgers

Plus the regular season didn't start in March for most of MLB history. The Braves played five games in March this year.
