Has a team ever interviewed a HC when the current coach hasnt been fired?

Don’t know about NFL, but Auburn interviewed Bobby Petrino while employing Tommy Tuberville. Then, Tuberville won the Iron bowl and Auburn retained him.

Dan Snyder once interviewed Mike Shanahan with his then head coach Jim Zorn sitting next to him in the same room.

There have probably been cases where where the HC planned to retire and they did interviews.

Jerry interviewed Parcells on a tarmac in NJ during the season. Then Campo coached 3 more games to end the season after news broke of the meeting
