Has a player ever signed a one-day contract with a team he didn't play for?

I think it would be cool if someone like Matt Forte signed with the Saints and then immediately retired and said "I always wanted to play for the Saints," for example.

But he wouldn’t have played for the saints.

Is this the kind of content we would get if Espn didn’t talk about the NFC East all the time?

I’d rather the nfc east if that’s the case

I think it’s retarded when they do it in general, your idea is even more retarded though. Good effort

I'd like to sign a one-post contract with a non-retarded thread

These one day contracts aren’t just ceremonial but legal documents. Teams sign the players to a veteran minimum or some ceremonial number like Jerry Rice did and have to make a roster spot for them. Contract basically says retiring forfeits the salary so no actual money is exchanged.

If anybody would've tried that, it would have been Marshall Faulk.

Dude sold popcorn in the Dome as a kid, and still loves his Saints.
