Half life of given drugs. A test like propionate has a half life of about 3.5 days. Some orals have a half life of as little as 12 hours. With any advance warning of a testing window or even knowing he would be tested at any time in a period of several weeks, he could beat it.
Plus HGH which is not detectable.
