One of the best to ever do it. Players loved him, yet he was hard on them when they needed it (I.e. benching Andruw for lack of hustle).
Also I still find it remarkable that he was GM and felt the team was good enough to compete so he named himself manager. No GM today would ever give up being in the front office to manage.

A legend to the game
Growing up, it didn't get any better than the Braves on TBS

Bobby always protected his players when they had words with an umpire whether they were right or wrong.
158 career ejections, 40 more than 2nd place

I loved how when there was a questionable call the camera went straight to Bobby before he even stood up

After the stroke he had last year I hate to say it but it is looking grim for ole Bobby.

Yea, how did he ever manage to win just one world series with 3 HOF in his rotation

To be fair though, even with all that pitching talent, he still only had like 3 HOFers/borderline HOFers in the field.
Who could be expected to win with that.

Bobby Cox was a whiny bitch. Sweet Lou Piniella would curb stomp him in a one on one.

Because the offense and defense choked in the postseason. I just reviewed the wikipedia breakdown of the 1996 World Series and there were multiple defensive gaffes by Grissom with 1 costing us game 5, an ump blocking an out that led to the comeback in Game 4, Grissom being called out when he was safe in Game 6 etc.
All three of those games were 1 run games/extra innings.
91: 5 games decided by 1 run
92: lost 4 games by 1 run
99: scored 1, 2, 5, 1 in 4 games. Maddux loses Game 1 with 1 run of support and 2 unearned runs on 2 errors.
It was the same shite every year.
